This does not in clude improvements made to the building, which totalled $15,000, plus the purchase price of the property in the amount of $20,- 000. The Town retains its $12,- 000.00 sprinkler funds now in vested in series G. U. S. Govern ment Bonds. The restrictions incorporated in the deed include the contin ued operation of the Country Club and its golf courses in a manner equal to or better than previously operated by the Town, and pro tection of the timber to avoid spoiling or defacing the entire property. The sale of lots carries the same restrictions as those con veyed to the Town from the for mer owners. Any new real estate developments are prohibited, ex cept upon approval of the Board of Town Commissioners. The Town also retains the right of first refusal to re-purchase the property in the event the new owned should wish to cease oper ation of the Country Club and golf courses. Mr. Sherman, who is engaged in the trucking and rigging busi ness in Hartford, Conn., is the owner of the Rockledge Country Club and golf courses, built along about 1928. He has been very highly recommended as a success ful operator, and is planning im mediate improvements to the Clubhouse, and the opening up of the abandoned nine holes of the Number Two Course, thus giving the Country Club two 18 hole golf courses. He plans the installation of a modern sprink ler system for the golf courses as soon as critical materials, such as pipe, can be obtained. He has already taken over the operation of the property and plans to have the building and furnishings in excellent condition for the open ing of the fall season. She will be given a week’s stay at Wrightsville Beach, with all expenses paid, late in July, and will be the Carthage Jaycees’ entrant in the state beauty con test at Wilson on August 3rd. The winner of the Wilson contest will he sent to Atlantic City at a later date to compete for the title of “Miss America.” Many street events are being arranged to fill out the first half of the day’s program and there will be a band concert at 11:30. Immediately following the lunch hour, a mammoth parade will pass the reviewing stand at the court house. Numerous busi ness and civic organizations from all parts of the county will be represented.
