Thursday by the pastor, the Rev. C. K. Taffee, and the pubic is cordially invited to attend. PTA Meets The monthly meeting of the Vass-Lakeview Parent - Teacher association was held Thursday evening in the school auditorium with the vice president, Mrs. H. A. Borst, presiding in the ab sence of Mrs. Redga Thomas, president. A delightful Thanksgiving pro gram was given under the di rection of Mrs. J. H. Bunn, with a large number of eighth grade students participating. This was followed by a skit given by Mes- dames W. A. Muse, Woodrow Burroughs, H. A. Borst and S. R. Smith. No meeting will be held in De cember. Mrs. Thomas Is Hostess Mrs. Cortis Thomas was hostess to the Cranes Creek Home Dem onstration'club Friday afternoon, with Mrs. Raymond Thomas pre siding over the business session. IV^iss Ruth Harrell, assistant coun ty home agent, gave a follow-up lesson on braided rugs and a number of the members had their rugs, some completed and some partially made, on display. Miss Harell also discussed Christmas gifts, giving many suggestions for hand-made gifts. A delightful social hour, fea turing Thanksgiving games di rected by Mrs. Redga Thomas, was enjoyed, with refreshments of fruits and candies. Fifteen members and one visitor, Mrs. J. T. Doss, were present. Sanford were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Frye. W. H. Raborn of Aiken, S. C., came up for a weekend visit and Mrs. Raborn and children, Dur- wood and Glenn Rosser, returned home with him. Mrs. N. N. McLean and Miss Agnes Smith visited their aunt, Mrs. J. A. Keith, at Lee County Hospital Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Keith is quite ill. Mrs. ,J. A. Patterson of Win ston-Salem spent from Wednes day until Sunday here as the guest of her sister, Mrs. W. J. Cameron, and other relatives. Mrs. Catherine Shaw and Mrs. W. D. Matthews of Southern Pines spent Friday with them. Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Parker and Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Parker and family attended the funeral of Os car Parker at Concord Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Parker of Ahoskie and Fayettevile visited Mr.a nd Mrs. J. M. McMillan Sun day. Before her recent marriage Mrs. Parker was Mary Frank Mc Millan. , Mr. and Mrs. W. A.- Muse were Sunday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Carlyle Gibson in Rockingham. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Edwards and daughter, Linda Sue, of Sou thern Pines visited relatives here Sunday. George McDermott was here from Chapel Hill for a weekend visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. M. McDermott. Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Griffin spent Saturday in Raleigh. Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Keith and family visited Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Keith in Raeford Sunday after noon. Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Oldham Installation Service Following the sermon at the Vass Baptist Church Sunday morning, F. L. Taylor, I. J. Myers and W. B. Causey were installed as deacons. Mr. Taylor has been elected Sunday School superin tendent; Mr. Causey, assistant, and S.
