Ws Raining Dollar Bills All For Vets^ Education Fund If you open a letter sometime soon, and a dollar bill falls out, don’t rush to the nearest store to spend it. First read the letter enclosed. Then the chances are you’ll find yourself adding one or more bills to it, and mailing them to the Citizens’ Bank and Trust company, for the Sandhills Vet erans’ . association educational fund. For this is the unique means these 13 young men of Southern Pines, Pinehurst and Aberdeen have chosen to collect $1,000 to give some'Moore County girl a good education in nurse training, with the objective of having her return to this county to nurse. They’re testing human nature by sending out dollar bills at ran dom, asking that they be return ed with additional bills—and to date,' President William White has announced, human nature is coming through with flying col ors. With their original invest ment of $50 more than surpassed, and a number yet to be heard from (they hope), they’re turn ing right around and sending them all out again. It’s a campaign you can’t over look, if they pick your name— and an opportunity Moore Coun ty high school girls won’t over look, if they want a fine nijrse training education with 13 god fathers footing the bill. High school principals all over the county are cooperating, and all a girl has to do is let her prin cipal know. Her name will be placed before a selection board. She should be a senior, ready to enter the first nursing class after her graduation in a good train ing school—and she’ll have a voice in which one it is. She’ll have everything furnish ed, and spending money too, for these veterans aren’t doing any thing halfway. It’s their form of cooperation with the Good Health program, and it ties in with their aim of community ser- ■«ce. So—when your dollar bill ar rives—look on it as 100 cents’ worth of opportunity. An estimated $20,000 worth of jewelry belonging to Mrs. P. H. Raymer, of New York city, was removed from her jewel case in a bureau drawer in her room at the Carolina hotel Monday, March 24. No description of the pieces has been made public, except that one, valued at $14,000, was a diamond bracelet. The presence of the FBI in the case suggests that an ^interstate ring of thieves is suspected—^the kipd that strike and move on with speed.
