Charles Swaringen leaves this week for camp near Raleigh. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pearse and young son left Friday for Cleveland. They recently sold the Manor hotel to R. W. Schroder of South Egremont, Mass., and M. C. Hufford, of Buffolo, who will continue its operation dur ing winter seasons. Mr. and Mrs. Pearse will return to their cottage, the Chatham, about the middle of September. Dunlaps Away Mr. and Mrs. George T. Dunlap left last weekend for a month in the North. Their children Kay and George are in camp. Mrs. Flo Miller has returned from a visit to New York and left to spend the summer at Blowing Rock. Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Murphy and children left Saturday to spend a week with relatives in Union, S. C. The Daily Vacation Bible school at the Baptist church came to a close last Friday after a two weeks session. Mrs. John Morgan was principal of the school, as sisted by Mrs. A. A. Vanboskerck, Rev. Ray Gosnell, Mrs. D. M. Rollins, Mrs. H. R. White, Mrs. Preston Brooks, Mrs. Frank Tyner, Mrs. L. C. Murphy. Mrs. Mittie Wallace. Miss Marion Moore was in charge of the music and acted as secretary and treas urer. There were 76 enrolled and an average daily attendance of 58. Each day the school was serv ed refreshments, by groups and individuals. On Friday there was a picnic at the church, Friday night was parents’ night and a special pro gram was presented.
