Vance Rowe of record ers court found probable cause for both, end bound them over tO' su perior court. Bobby Crawford, Jr., 20, an em ployee at the track, was charged with larceny of the three watch es, moderately valued at $150, and David Locklee, 18, with aiding and abetting. Bond of $250 was set for each, which neither was able immediately to make. Pinehurst police testified that Franklin Safford, Pinehurst own er and trainer of about 30 trotters and racers, had reported on Sat urday the theft of the watche,-? from a trunk in his barn at the track. They picked up Bobby Crawford, who turned Out to have one of the watches, then two other boys were arrested on sus picion. The trail finally led to Locklee, and with the recovery of the other, two watches from a burial place in the woods, both admitted their guilt and the cir cumstan?es of the theft. John L. Maultsby, Aberdeeii. service station operator, charged with breaking windows* in auto mobiles and malicious damage to personal. property, did not testify in his own defense but appealed from the recorder’s judgment of guilty, with 60-day suspended sentence, fine of $150 (plus costs) out of which were to come repairs to the windows in cars belonging to James T. Wilkerson and. Leon ard Galloway. Wilkerson set his damage at $71.23, Calloway his at $27.52. Evidence was to the ef fect that Maultsby had been drinking, and broke the windows of cars parked at his service sta tion in a fit of anger.
