Both managers are issuing an iftvitatioh thl§ week for the gen eral public to visit their places, and view the handsome models. He was also ordered by the court to pay $215 to cover Miss Holtzclaw’s medical and hospital expenses, and to pay her father, Oscar Holtzclaw of Jefferson Inn, the costs of repairing his car, pro vided insurance does not take care of this. Holder’s driver’s li cense was also revoked for a year. The investigating patrolman re ported that Holder, driving his ;ruck out of the driveway of a service station on US 1 south of town, had gotten into Miss Holtz claw’s lane of traffic directly in front of her car. Though she tried to avoid him, he struck her car, damaging it to the extent of sev eral hundred dollars and sending the young lady to the hospital. Holder’s truck was also dam aged. The patrolman said it con tained liquor, though the bottle or bottles were broken by the im pact. This was just one of a number of traffic law violation cases which largely made up the lengthy docket Monday. Judge J. Vance Rowe dealt with most of them severely, especially those in which accidents or drunken driv ing were involved. There were three acquittals, one that of Henry Nicholson, Kne- hurst Negro, charged with per mitting an unlicensed person to drive his car; John D. Kennedy, Pinehurst, acquitted of careless morning under $500 bond; Freder' ick Elliott, Vass, unlawful posses sion and transporting of illicit whiskey, bad brakes, $15 (pint of whiskey destroyed). Clement E. Glover, Montclair, N. J., speeding 70 mph, cash bond of $50 forfeited; Charles Thomas Patterson, Sanford, speeding, reckless driving, continued to Sat urday; Napoleon Smith, Southern Pines, breaking and entering store, larceny and receiving, six months on roads; Dewey Brown Rex, Fort Bragg, speeding 80 mph. Robert Doub, Pinehurst, care less and reckless driving, driving while drunk causing accident and damage, 60 days suspended, $100, license revoked (it appearing de fendant has taken care of the damage); Irving Woodrow Camp bell, Cameron, speeding 75 mph, 30 days suspended, $35; Jethrow Gore and Mary Louise Waddell, Southern Pines, unlawful bedding 60 days suspended, $60, not to operate a motor vehicle in next six months; Roy Lee Council, Vass, careless and reckless driv ing causing damage, 60 days sus pended, $25 (car said totally des troyed); Robert Cecil Riley, driv ing with improper license and transporting illicit whiskey, and George Clark Allred, Aberdeen, aiding and abetting in transport ing, judgment continued on pay ment of joint fine of $25 and costs. James Benjamin Swett, Rock ingham, speeding 55 mph (tractor trailer), $25; John Ernest Stutts, Steeds, driving while drunk, curs ing, and George Dewey Criscoe aiding and abetting in above, 60 days suspended on payment of fine of $100 each, each defendant’s license revoked for 12 months; Samuel Richard Medlin, Cameron, driving while drunk, 60 days sus pended, $100, license revoked, gave notice of appeal, bond set at $300; Marvin K. In the Tin Whistles tournament, a Par-Bogey, Best Ball of Four Partners event played on the same day, the winning foursome was that of R. D. Chapman, A. W. Craig, W. W. Simpson, and W. A. Wright who scored 40-46-96 points. Second place winners were A. V. Arnold, A. W. Lytle, J. A. Ruggles and R. W. Smith with 38- 50-88 points.
