Mills, appealing on behalf of the Pinebluff volun teer fire department for contribu tions to a $350 fund that is pro viding lifeguard protection at Pinebluff lake for the entire sum- Cyrus Butlers Moving To New Home In Mexico The fire department has taken the responsibility of keeping a lifeguard at the lake this summer, the letter points out. It is also noted that last year the fire department purchased a pul- motor through public subscrip tion. With a lifeguard at the lake and the pulmotor on the lire truck ready for immediate use, children and other swimmers have excellent protection at hand, the department reminds. Addressed, stamped envelopes are being enclosed lor contribu tions by Pinebluff citizens. Mayor MiUs said today that residents of Aberdeen, Southern Pines and other communities, who use the lake, might like to make contribu tions also. These may be sent to him or to N. L. VanBoskerck, fire chief. Truck Driver Hurt By Falling Lumber at A. C. Allen, 22, of Robbins, who ^operates a truck for the hauling of lumber, was injured Thursday morning when a load of lumber fell from the truck down upon him as he was standing beside it in the Futrell lumber yard Vass. He was taken to Moore County hospital by ambulance. The Pi lot was unable to determine the extent of his injuries at presstim^ except that he had a broken leg, with possible internal injury, but was net thought to be critically hurt. PIANOS The Cyrus Butler family is starting on a long journey this week—^the move to their new home in Ocotlan, in the state of Jalisco, Mexico. , Mr. Butler, a consultig engineer, will be with Celanese Mexicana, a subsidiary of the great Celanese Corporation of America. A home is being furnished them near the plant in Ocotlan, which is located in the mountains about 300 miles west of Mexico City. A school for the American children of plant of ficials and employe* is operated by the corporation there. Mrs. Butler and the two young er children, Nancy, 11, and Kath arine, seven, left Wednesday, planning a stopover on the way to visit her mother, Mrs.-Robert McGukin at Anderson, S. C. Mr. Butler and Bobby, 16, will leave Saturday, and the family will meet in Miami for the flight across the Gulf. The Butlers are longtime resi dents of Southern Pines. Cyrus Butler with his brother Howard and sister Miss Helen Butler, chil dren of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bion H. Butler, grew up here and at tended the Southern Pines schools. ' Cyrus has served as engineer for numerous projects about the state, for private firms, municipal ities and the State of North Caro lina. He was lor a time connect ed with a L'aurinburg firm but lor some time in the past has been working independently from his home on the Old Bethesda road. The 1951 Chevrolet driven by Miss Oliver was travelling east on NC 20. The investigating State High way Patrolman said that the acci dent wa^ caused by failure of the Chevrolet to stop at a stop sign. Other car involved in the colli sion was the 1952 Nash of J. A. Matson of Miami Dale, Fla., who was traveling north on 301. Miss Ruth Oliver was injured and this week remained a patient at Robeson County Memorial hos pital, Lumberton, with a fractured pelvis. Miss Kennedy also was treated for injuries at the hospi tal, as were Matson and his wife, who suffered lacerations, bruises and other injuries. In addition to her parents alSd sister. Miss Oliver is survived by three brothers. Rev. John S. Oli ver, missionary to Brazil in South America; Wendell Oliver of the U. S. Army, stationed at Fort Campbell, Ky., and Lawrence Oli ver of the home. Attending the funeral were five Woman’s college classmates of Miss Oliver, also Mrs. Mary L. McAllister of Raleigh, district home demonstration agent; C. R. Ammons, Harnett county farm agent, and Mrs. Ammons, and oth er personnel of the Extension Ser vice including Miss Flora McDon ald, Moore county home agent, and Mrs. Ruth H.
