William ^ Penn Blended Whiskey Dies At Aberdeen Charles Vernon Miller, 70, who had served with the Norfolk and Southern railroad for 55 years, died Tuesday morning at his home on East Main street in Aberdeen. Whitehead of the Page Memorial church officiating Mr. Miller, the oldest man with the Norfolk and Southern and the one with highest seniority, came to the Sandhills in 1918 as an en gineer with that railroad. He was born in Randolph county July 21, 1882, son of the late Benjamin Miller and Lou ^ones Miller. He had served with the railroad un til 18 months ago, when he went onto inactive status. He is survived by his wile, Mrs Margaret Martin Miller, of the home, and three daughters, Mar garet Miller of the home; Mrs Sidney W. Toman of San Juan, Puerto Rico; and Mrs. John T. He served overseas in the Central Pacific, South West Pacific with the 38th Infan try Division; Japan, and Ko rea with the G-2 Section, Eighth Army, and holds the Bronze Star medal. Lt. Colonel and Mrs. Harris are residing at 365 W. Ver mont avenue. Southern Pines, where he is assigned by the Army as an instructor at USAF Air Ground Operations School.
