The 1953 Ford will go on dis-"*" play at Jackson Motors, Southern Pines, today, (Friday) as in other showrooms of the 6,400 Ford deal erships throughout the country. The Jackson Motors showroom has been renovated in prepara tion for the showing, gnd E. Nolley Jackson, proprietor, said everyone is invited to come and see this long-awaited new car. It is being presented at no increase in prices anywhere along the line. On view will be a Crestline vic toria in flamingo red, with ivory- white top, also a four-door sedan in woodsmoke grey. These are two of a line of new colors devel oped for the 1953 models. ' Other models are on order by the local concern and are expected to be in by today cr within a short time. The unveiling of the 1953 Fords, marks the 50th anniversary year of the' Ford Motor company, a milestone in the life of a company which has meant much in Ameri ca’s progress. L. D. Sinead, general sales manager of Ford Division, said that Ford’s “new miracle ride brings to the high volume , field foy the first time the smooth rid ing characteristics of much heav ier, costlier cars. It. is smoother, softer and permits the car to hju| the road at high speeds and low, on rough roads as well as on smooth pavement.” Ford again in 1953 leads its field in offering the widest variety and choice of power combinations, safety features and color selec tions, Mr. Smead said. Only Ford in the high volume class offers both V-8 and 6 cylinder engines with three transmissions—con ventional, overdrive and Fordo- matic. Emphasizing the longer look of the 1953 Ford is a new chrome molding through the center of the rear fenderline end new jet-tube tail lights with a larger signal area more easily seen from the side or rear. A decorative chrome deck lid handle, mounted below the Ford crest, with a concealed, weather protected key-opening and key spring return, has been added to the new model. The new hub caps feature the Ford name in embossed letters. Proposition No. 4 SHALL the qualified voters of the Town of Southern Pines approve the bond ordi nance adopted by the Board of Commissioners of said Town on September 17, 1952, which authorizes the issuance of bonds of said Town of the Aiaximum aggregate amount of $34,000 to finance the re construction of the existing building used by the Town as a storage barn so as to pro vide a building for the storage of the Town’s fire truck, and the erection of a new building to provide a place for the stor age of town trucks, and the acquisition of the furnishings and equipment constituting a part of such buildings, and au thorizes the levy and collec tion of an annual tax suffi cient to pay the principal of and interest on said bonds; and also approve the indebt edness to be incurred by the issuance of said bonds? and said Board of Commissioners has duly canvassed the returns of the Registrar and Judges of Elec tion appointed to hold said elec tion and has determined the re sult of said election to be as here inafter stated; NOW, THERE FORE, Said Board of Commissioners hereby makes the following state ment of the result of said special election, pursuant to the Munici pal Finance Act, 1921, of North Carolina: (1) The number of voters registered and qualified to vote at said election was 1046. The number of votes cast at said election against said ordinance and against said indebtedness was 146. (3) The number of votes cast at said election for. the ordinance described in Prop osition No. 2 and for the in debtedness proposed to be in curred by the issuance of the bonds authorized by said or dinance was 245. The number of votes cast at said elec tion against said ordinance and against said indebtedness was 150. (4) The number of votes cast at said election for the ordinance described in Prop osition No. 3 and for the in debtedness proposed to be in curred by the issuance of the bonds authorized by sfiid or dinance was 169. The number of votes cast at said election against said ordinance and against said indebtedness was 216. (5) The number of votes cast at said election for the ordinance described in Prop osition No. 4 and for the in debtedness proposed to be in curred by the issuance of the bonds authorized by said or dinance was 197. The number of votes cast at said election against said ordinance and against-said indebtedness was 192. (6) A majority of voters voting at saiS election voted to approve each of the bond ordinances described in Prop ositions Nos. 1, 2 and 4 and the indebtedness to be in curred pursuant thereto, and a majority of the voters vot ing at said election voted to disapprove the bond ordi nance described in said Prop osition No. 3 and the' indebt edness to be incurred pursu ant thereto.
