front fenders and add to the lower, wider appearance.
1953 Ford Unveiled Today, Marking
50th Anniversary of Ford Motor Co.
The 1953 Ford will go on dis-"*"
play at Jackson Motors, Southern
Pines, today, (Friday) as in other
showrooms of the 6,400 Ford deal
erships throughout the country.
The Jackson Motors showroom
has been renovated in prepara
tion for the showing, gnd E.
Nolley Jackson, proprietor, said
everyone is invited to come and
see this long-awaited new car. It
is being presented at no increase
in prices anywhere along the line.
On view will be a Crestline vic
toria in flamingo red, with ivory-
white top, also a four-door sedan
in woodsmoke grey. These are
two of a line of new colors devel
oped for the 1953 models. '
Other models are on order by
the local concern and are expected
to be in by today cr within a short
time.
The unveiling of the 1953 Fords,
marks the 50th anniversary year
of the' Ford Motor company, a
milestone in the life of a company
which has meant much in Ameri
ca’s progress.
L. D. Crusoe, vice presidrait of
the Ford Motcr company and gen
eral manager of Ford Division,
said, “The 1953 Ford, is a worthy
successor .t6. all the millions' of
cgrs this, cdnipany has built since
the late Henry Ford organized it
in June 1903. ' ■ '
To desigfaat'e the 1953 Ford as
the'50th Anniversary .car, a med;
allion has been placed cn top of
Electric Range
the steering column in combine
tion with a new half-circle horn
ring. Around the Ford crest in the
center of the emblem are the
words, “50th Anniversary—1903-
1953.”
A massive new grille with a
center spinner chairacteristic ol
recent Ford design and a low,
road-hugging look advance the
modern Ford styling. An cut
standing improvement in suspen
sion termed “the miracle ride”
heads the list of mechanical im
provements.
L. 'W. Sinead, general sales
manager of Ford Division, said
that Ford’s “new miracle ride
brings to the high volume , field
foy the first time the smooth rid
ing characteristics of much heav
ier, costlier cars. It. is smoother,
softer and permits the car to hju|
the road at high speeds and low,
on rough roads as well as on
smooth pavement.”
Ford again in 1953 leads its field
in offering the widest variety and
choice of power combinations,
safety features and color selec
tions, Mr. Smead said. Only Ford
in the high volume class offers
both V-8 and 6 cylinder engines
with three transmissions—con
ventional, overdrive and Fordo-
matic.
Emphasizing the longer look of
the 1953 Ford is a new chrome
molding through the center of the
rear fenderline end new jet-tube
tail lights with a larger signal area
more easily seen from the side or
rear. A decorative chrome deck
lid handle, mounted below the
Ford crest, with a concealed,
weather protected key-opening
and key spring return, has been
added to the new model. The new
hub caps feature the Ford name
in embossed letters.
The 1953 Fords are available in
the following models:
Mainline: Tudor and Fordor se
dans, business coupe and/two-door
Ranchwagon; Customline: Tudor
and Fordor sedans, club coupe
and four-door Country Sedan;
Crpstline: "Victoria, Sunliner con
vertible and Country Squire four-
door station wagon.
