Unites Miss Thomas And Mr. Whitesell In a candlelight ceremony Sun day evening at the Pinehurst Community church, Miss Madge Elizabeth Thomas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Thomas of Pinehurst, became the bride of Delis Herbert Whitesell, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Whitesell. of Pinehurst. The Rev. Roscoe L. Prince officiated at the double ring ceremony. The church ros trum was decorated with white gladioli and the windows each held a three-tiered candelabra, bracketed in magnolia, leaves, Mrs. Richard Knight presented a program of nuptial music prior to the ceremony, and Mrs. R. L. Prince, contralto, sang, “Oh Prom ise Me,” “Ave Maria,” and “Oh Perfect Love.” The bride, given in marriage by Mrs. Boyd Entertains Guests from Lynchburg Mrs. Lawson Turner and Mrs. Powell Glass of Lynchburg, Va, spent the weekend with Mrs. James Boyd. Mrs. Turner, .who has visited here many times in the past was one of the artists represented in the Library Concert series held here ten years ago, singing her own versions of Negro spirituals and mountain songs. Mrs. Glass whose late husband was editor of the Lynchburg News, has headed the Virginia Garden Clubs and wrote the Garden Notes and woman’s page for the News. The bride’s mother wore a gown of peach crepe and lace, flesh - colored accessories, and a matching bandeau. Her corsage was of talisman roses. The bride groom’s mother was attired in a frock of aqua crepe with a beaded yoke of lace, a matching lace cap and a corsage of pink carnations. A reception was held immedi ately following the wedding in the church parlor, after which the couple left on a wedding trip to Florida. They will be at home in the Colonial Heights subdivision of Aberdeen. Mrs. Whitesell is a graduate of the Pinehurst High school. She at tended Woman’s college in Greensboro for one year before taking a position as secretary to James W. Tufts in the publicity department of Pinehurst, Inc. She is now employed as secretary to the production superintendent at Robbins Mills, Inc., in Aberdeen Mr. Whitesell, following hi'? graduation from the Pinehurst High school, served in the U. S Navy during World War II and is new in the contracting business with his father. Attend Printers’ Meeting In Raleigh pearls and the high neckline was accentuated by a small collar. Her headdress was a Juliet cap of satin bound with lilies of the val ley, and caught to it was a finger tip veil. She carried a cascade bouquet of red roses. Miss Jackie Sturdivant, cousin of the bride, of Florence, S. C., was maid of honor. She wore a red evening dress with sequin trim and her bouquet was a cas cade of talisman roses. Ernest Pitts, ccusin of the groom, was best man, and ushers were Bobby Wrieht, of Aberdeen, and Raymond Williams of Manly. 'A program of wedding music was presented by Mrs. E. L. Pleasants, organist, of Aberdeen; Mrs. Jackie Thompson of South ern Pines, who sang “The Lord’s Prayer” as a benediction, and Joe Cameron of Manly, whose num bers were “Because” and' “Through the Years.” The bride’s mother wore a grey suit with navy accessories and a corsage of pink carnations.
