Pickier. The Fellowship Circle will meet Tuesday evening at 8 o’clock with Mrs. Grauland McCaskill. Personals ^ Mr. and Mrs. A1 Ludacer left on Thursday for their home in Toledo, Ohio, after spending two weeks with Mrs. Ludacer’s par ents, Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Wallace. Misses Lorraine Morgan and Adelaide Schnell left Sunday for Greensboro to attend Girls State at Woman’s College for a week. Mrs. Steve Kuzminski and son David Anthony are at the home of Mrs. Kuzminski’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. K. G. Deaton. Mrs. A. B. Nettles returned to her home in Orangeburg, S. C., Monday after spending several weeks with her son and daught er-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Nettles. Mrs. R. L. Frohman and son Ross of Richmond are guests this week of Mrs. Frohman’s mother, Mrs. Mittie Wallace. Mr. and Mrs. John Morgan vis ited the George Morgans in Vass Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Winfred Smith and children left Sunday for Delmar, Del., for a visit with Mr. Smith’s father, James W. Smith, and Mrs. Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse White, Mr. and Mrs. Junior Cook and son and Miss Mary Ann Cooke left Sat urday for Epnporia, Kansas, for a week’s visit with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Sellars. Mr. and Mrs. Virginia,Carpen ter and son Jimmy spent the weekend in Atkinson with Mrs. Carpenter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Gray. Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Ives, Jr., of Charleston were weekend guests of Mr. Ives’ uncle, J. Dun bar Ives. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Parker and Mr. and Mrs. John Macpherson and daughte/ Gladys of Barker, N. Y., were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Parker. M. M. Parker returned home with them for the summer. Mrs. V. F. Tarlton of Sanford is spending several weeks in the heme of Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Pick ier. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Crutch field of Winston-Salem were weekend guests* of Mrs. Crutch field’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. El more Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Dighton Fiddner and sons Mac and Johnny, left Saturday night for Danbury, Conn., for a visit with Mr. Fidd- ner’s mother, Mrs. Viola Fidd ner, and other relativfes. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Southerland and children are spending the week in Wallace as guests of Mrs. Southerland’s mother, Mrs. Mob ley, and Mr. Southerland’s moth er, Mrs. B. T. Southerland. Mr. and Mrs. W. K. Carpenter, Jr., and children, Cathy and David, and Mr. and Mrs. Wesley McMurray and daughter Kathy spent the weekend at Holden Beach. Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Woodcock, Jr., and children are spending the week in Atkinson and IVillard with Mrs. Woodcock’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Gray, and Mr. Woodcock’s parents. Mr. and Mrs. James Boone of Raleigh were weekend gu^ts of Mrs. Boone’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Adams. The boys re mained for a visit with their grandparents. Lions’ Officers Installed Friday At Dinner Meeting Spend New Member With Fine Record Is Welcomed Into Club New officers of the Southern Pines Lions club, who were elect ed June 12, were installed last Friday evening at a dinner meet ing held at the Southern Pines Country club. ^ Installing officer, and a spefflal guest -at the meeting, was District Governor-Elect J. D. Peacock, Of Lumberton, who spoke to each of ficer individually in the course of the induction, explaining his du ties and obligations and securing his pledge to be wprthy ©f -the trust. Installed were: Dr .David W. Whitehead, president; David Gam ble, Bill Benson, Don Traylor, vice-president; Bob Arey, secre tary-treasurer; Jas. Clayton, lion tamer; Henry Clayton, tail twist er; W. L. Baker, Russell Mills, di rectors for two-year terms; Elliott Shearon, H. M. Patterson, direc tors for one-year terms. Following the installation Lion President Whitehead announced the appointment of the following chairmen of standing committees: Don Traylor, attendance; Fred Chappell, constitution and by laws; Willis B. Rush, finance; Charles Cole, Lions information; EUiott Shearon, publicity; W. L. Baker, membership; David W. Gamble, convention; Russell Mills, program; B. F. Godwin, cit izenship and patriotism; Douglas F. Rowe, agricultural; Bill Benson, boys’ and girls’ work; H. M. Pat terson, civic improvement; Henry Clayton, community betterment; S. B. Richardson, education; W. B. Gouger, health and welfare; John N. Stringfellow, safety; D. W. Whitehead, sight conservation and work among the blind; James Clayton, United Nations; Walter F. Harper, greeter. J. Walter Mills, Jr., was wel comed as a transfer from the Carr- boro club, where he had continued his Lion membership while living at Chapel Hill. Mr. Mills was previously a member of the Oak Ridge (Tenn.) Lions club, where he served in a succession of offices—assistant tail twister, tail twister, vice-president and president. He has a record of more than six years of perfect attend ance.
