Y., and S|Sgt. Tommy Stewart, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. T. Stewart of Carthage, were mar ried June 19 in the evening in the First Presbyterian church in San Antonio, Texas. A|2c Lee Roy McDonald of Car thage was best man. Only close friends of the young couple at tended the ceremony. Sergeant and Mrs. Stewart will make their home in San Antonio, while he is stationed there. Trip io Nova Scotia Miss Mary Logan, supervisor in the Moore County schools is on vacation at her home in Asheville. Later this month Miss Logan plans to join Mr. and Mrs. John A. Ootes and daughter of Fayette ville for a trip to Nova Scotia. They plan to reach Nova Scotia in time to attend the celebration at St. Ann’s. Here once a year the Scotch clans gather for pag eantry, games, dancing and choral singing in the Gaelic'tongue. Kitchen Shower Mrs. W. W. Dalrymple enter tained at a kitchen shower and bingo party Thursday night hon oring Miss Joan Mathis, bride- elect. Mixed summer flowers were used to decorate the home, and the hostess presented Miss Mathis with a corsage of white carna tions. Four tables of bingo were at play and the prizes won, all kitch en utensils, were presented to the bride-elect. The guest list was composed of Miss Mathis and her mother, Mrs. Eloise Mathis; Mrs. Bill Blue, Mrs Carrcll Wilson, Mrs. E. C. Fields, Mrs. M. J. McPhail, Mrs. Roy Williamson, Mrs. Monroe Way, Mrs. Doyle Miller, Mrs. Ralph Miller, Mary Louise McDonald, Harriet Davis, Becky Wallace, Margaret Grimm, Lillie Ellen Wise, and Miss Mary Bryan of N. While away Mrs. Barrin ger will attend the State NCEA leadership conference at Blue Ridge July 12-14. Mrs. Barringer is secretary and treasurer of the Moore County unit of the NCEA. THE BOURBON DE LUXE COMPANY, LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY Lillian Bullock Goes To Semi-Finals In Girls' Singles Event Lillian Bullock, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Cameron, went to the semi-finals of the girls singles in' the North Carolina junior tennis tournament at Greensboro, but the hard-playing Southern Pines 14-year-old was eliminated by Tanda Taylor of Greensboro, 6-3, 6-2. Lillian was one of a group of five girls and two boys who play ed in the tourney which was run off at Greensboro last Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Going to Greensboro also were: Patty Woodell, Frances Pearson, Patty Britt, Johnny Watkins and Julian Pleasants, all of Southern Pines, and Gail Hobson of Pinehurst. Lillian and Gail teamed in the junior girls doubles, winning one match and dropping another which was called when unfinish ed because of darkness. Frances Pearson and Gail Hob son each won a match but were eliminated in their second matches, in the singles. Other players, including the two boys who played in the junior boys singles, were eliminated in their first matches. Lillian Bullock reached the semi-finals by beating Lucia Guest of Greensboro 6-2, 6-3, in her first match. Girl Arrested On Morals Count A 16-year-old girl who gave her name to police as Shelby Jean Heath of Carthage Rt. 1 was among three women and two men arrested last Saturday in Raleigh, charged with occupying a hotel room for immoral purposes. In City Court at Raleigh this week she was given a six months jail sentence suspended for a twfo- year prolfetionary period. A third man, who escaped arrest Saturday, was located at Fort Bragg and has been cited to stand trial July 16. All three of the men were. Fort Bragg soldiers. The other two women, a mother and daughter, both of Raleigh, were tried this week, the mother receiv ing 12 months in prison and the daughter a six months suspended sentence. L. V.
