Oscar McCormick, a 36-year-old
Southern Pines Negro who escap
ed from Camp Polk prison farm
near Raleigh in July, 1952, landed
back in prison at Raleigh Tues
day with a new sentence.
He came in originally in 1950
from Moore County with a total
of 6-10 years for breaking, enter
ing and larceny. He returned with
12 months more picked up in Bla
den County for violating liquor
laws.
Prisons officials said he would
have to complete the interrupted
6-10 year term at Camp Polk be
fore starting the new term.

nudged out the Farm Life Trojans
at the Vass-Lakeview gymnasium,
50-45, last Friday night.
Jimmy Thomas was high scorer
for Vass-Lakeview with 24 points,
followed by Ronald Haynes with
nine. Claytie Kiser led the Tro
jans with 14 and Billy “Mo” Guin
had 11.
