a daughter, Judy Lee, on Novem
ber 23 in the Chatham County
Hospital. Mrs. Howard i^ the for

Carthage. Mr. and Mrs. Howard
have a four-year-old daughter,
Lynn.
A Son
Mr. and Mrs. Jamie Loy of
Burlington announce the birth of
a son, George Malcolm, on Decem
ber 2 in the Burlington Hospital.
Mrs. Loy is the former Miss Har-
riett McGraw of Carthage. The
Loys have a daughter, Amie Paw
nee, one year old.

Mrs. J. L. Richardson of Ham
let and her son-in-law and daugh
ter, Mr. and Mrs. Bob AsheAforth
of Logan, West Va., were break
fast guests of Mrs. O. U. Alexan
der Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Ashe-
worth were taking Mrs. Richard-
S son to Westt Virginia to spend the
winter months with them.
Music Club Meets
Mrs. oJhn Cline and Mrs. Thad
Frye were joint hostesses to the
Carthage Music Club Friday
night at the home of Mrs. Cline.
The business meeting was pre
sided over by the president, Mrs.

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Cherry and
two small daughters of Salisbury
spent the weekend with Mrs.
Cherry’s mother, Mrs. P. E. Her

Mrs. H. J. Myrick is recupera
ting nicely at home following
an operation in the Moore County
Hospital last week.
S. J.' Harrington, retired rail
road employee and former Moore
County resident, has returned to
his home in Norfolk, Va., after a
five weeks’ visit here with rela
tives. His daughter, Mrs. Charles
Vollmer, motored down for him
last week.
Mrs. R. C. Kennedy, who has
been on an extended visit to her
sister, Mrs. A. T. Lewis, has re
turned to her home in Raleigh.
Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Parks were
in Robbins Sunday to visit Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Upchurch.
Mrs. W. G. Brown and Miss
Bess McCaskill attended a Tuber
culosis Association meeting’ in
Pinehurst Tuesday night at the
home of the Rev. an.d Mrs. T. A.
Cheatham.
Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Maness of
Fayetteville visited in the H. L.
Maness home Sunday.
Mrs. A. Blue was in Aberdeen
for the weekend, in the home of
the Rev. and Mrs. C. W. Worth.

Livestock Loans
Now Available At
Moore FHA Office
Applications for livestock loans
under the federal drought disas
ter program can now be made to
the Farmers Home Administra
tion office at Carthage, C. C. Ling-
erfelt, FHA county supervisor,
said this week.
The committee which adminis
ters the general FHA program in
Moore County, has been appoint
ed to supervise the livestock loan
program. Members of this com
mittee are O. U. Alexander, John
M. Blue and William M. McLeod.
Loans are available for disaster
situations involving all kinds of
livestock, provided mther qualify
ing conditions are met, Lingerfelt
said. Loans can be made for
farmers to buy livestock to re
place these they had to sell be
cause of drought; also to buy feed
not available now because of the
drought; and under other condi
tions.
Details may be obtained at the
FHA office in the courthouse at
Carthage.

Circle Meels
The Rebecca Shannon Circle of
the Methodist Church met Tues
day afternoon at the home of
Mrs. W. A. Parsons. Mrs. Parsons
had charge of the program and
Mrs. Howard Troutman presided
over the business. The hostess
served refreshments.
Baptist Circles Meet
The Margaret Holder and Car
men Adams Circles met Monday
evening at the home cf Mrs. H. O.
Queen for their Cnristmas pro
gram and party. Mrs. Elsie Free
man presented the program, “The
Prince of Peace.”
During the social hour games
were played and gifts exchanged
by the members. The hostess
served refreshments to the 24
members and guests present.

Mrs. J. R. Lamploy spent last
week in Durham with her daugh-
ters,-Mrs. L. L. Foushee, and Mr.
Foushee and her son and daugh
