^ Eugene S. Brown, 54, died Tues day at his home on Route 1, Car thage. He is survived by his wife, Mrs Lillie M. Brown; one daughter Mrs. Bessie Meyers of Winston- Salem; one brother, Burnie Brown of Ohio, and one sister, Mrs. Bes sie Wooten. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at Cool Springs Methodist Church. The Rev. Chester Brown officiated. Burial was in the church ceme tery. Taylor of Goldsboro. Miss Frances Pleasants and Miss Rose Fiske have returned home after spending six weeks in England. Mr. and Mrs. T. S. Melvin and Mr. and Mrs. Klay Box and Miss June Melvin left last week for a several weeks’ visit in Okla homa City, Okla. Mrs. C. H. Storey has returned to her home after] spending sev eral weeks visiting her son and daughter-in-law, Mir. '@nd Mrs. Charlton Storey, and family, in Buffalo, N. Y. Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Brewer and children Carol, Barbara and Billy of Newport News, Va., spent sev eral days last week visiting Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Cameron. Mrs. Vance Hardison smd son have returned to their home in Arapahoe after spending some I time visiting Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Lawhoh. Mr and Mrs. Robert Allport- and children of Franklin, Va., are spending several days visiting Mr. and Mrs. i. Talbot Johnson. .Mr. and^ Mrs. Leslie McNeill and son Roger visited in the western part of the state over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Meinnis spent last weekend at the coast. Dr. Amy Leveconte, professor of chemistry at Flora Macdonald college, was a dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. McNeill, Sr., and family Thursday. Dr. Leve conte left Thursday evening for New York City, where she sailed Saturday morning on The United States for Europe. Miss Ella Ruth McNeill and Johnny Burns are spending this week with Dr. and Mrs. John K. Robertson and son in Pembroke. L Marks of Fayetteville spent Monday and Tuesday visit ing relatives and friends in Aber deen. Mrs. Annie Belle Johnson and son Bobby of Camden were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Pleasants. Mrs. E. L. Pleasants is spending some time visiting in New York City. Professor T. E. Wright of Flora Macdonald College in Red Springs visited friends in Aber deen Monday. George Morgan of Vass is visit- ECHO SPRINO KENTUCKY BOURBON Now£ years Uold a ■■n 'J' u Aberdeen Child Killed By Auto Driven By Father Curtis Dale Nelson, three-year- old Aberdeen child, died at Moore I County Hospital Sunday after-1 noon not long after he ran or I fell under the wheel of an auto-1 mobile driven by his father De-j witt Nelson, as the car was enter ing the yard of their home in Colonial Heights. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the First Baptist Church in Aberdeen, con ducted by the Rev. Eugene Deese, pastor. Interment was in the fam ily plot at Bethesda Cemetery near Aberdeen. Surviving are the parents; a three-month old brother, Rickie; the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Nelson of Carth- agee; and the maternal grandpa rents, Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Mur phy of Winnsboro, S. C. Mr. Nelson was quoted as say ing that the little boy was accus tomed to run out of the house to greet him when the father drove into the yard. He said he heard the child call and looked toward the front door of the home. While he was looking that way, the child approached from another direction and somehow ran or fell in front of the car, one wheel passing over his body. The family has lived in Aber deen about four years. The acci dent took place about 2:15 p. m. Sunday nad the child died with in half an ho-ur. July 25-31 is National Farm Safety Week.
