The boys and girls of Southern
Pines High School, facing Farm
Life basketball teams at Carthage
last Thursday night, in the open-
ing games of the season, won both
contests. Scores were 58-40 for
the girls and 64-40 for the Blue
Knights.
The teams play Robbins tonight
(Friday) in the first home games

low as 27 were recorded by offi
cial Weather Bureau thermome
ters here during November.
Rain fell on 12 days of the
month, for a t#tal of 2.05. inches
the largest amount in any <one
day being .90 inch on the 5th and
the smallest being .01 inch on the
18th and 24th.
Majiimum temperatures reach
ed 70 or higher on four days of
the month and were in the 60s
on 12 days, so that more than
half the month showed high daily
temperatures of 60 or higher.
Minimum readings were in the
50’s on two days of the nionth, in
the 40’s on four days, dipped to
the twenties on two days—the
3rd and the 28th-and were in
the 30’s otherwise. By “days of
course, is meant the lowest read
ing of a 24-hour period, which is
usually at night.
During November, custody of
the weather bureau instruments
was taken over by City Manapr

T A. Kelley who left town on an
extended visit, and the

were set up there, the thermome

lina Girl Scout Council, gave a
short talk on the significance of
the curved bar. She also pointed
out the fact that these four gps,
who had progressed from tender
foot rank, through second class
to first class and had won four
additional medals in scouting be
fore being entitled to receive this
highest honor, were only the 10th
group to receive this particular
! award out of approximately 1,000
1 girls who constitute the member-
I ship of the four counties included
in the Central Carolina Council.
