Bobby Rouble scored three touchdowns on runs and J. D. Cribb caught passes from Ken neth Carrington to add three more. The visitors were unable to budge the strong Aberdeen de fense for a first down. Martin Greene and Frederick Schnell led the defense for the Red Devils. Coach Hugh Bowman used plenty of his reserve squad who all turned in a fine performance. Mt. Most spectacular of the charges was that against Russell Hussey of Robbins who was accused driving 95 ' miles per hour and careless and reckless driving causing an accident. As usual in traffic cases. Judge Rowe upped the penalty in pro portion to the severity of the of fense, sentencing Hussey to six months on the roads, suspended on payment of a $250 fine and costs. He was ordered to surren der his driver’s license and will not be permitted to operate a motor vehicle for the next two years. A defendant who apparently could not learn by experience was Jack Wesley Sanders of Star who faced the court on his third of fense of driving without opera tor’s license, while revocation of his license was in effect- The judge cracked down on this defendant also, setting a three- months road sentence which was suspended on payment of $300 fine and costs and on condition Sanders not operate a motor ve hicle during the next two years without a legal and valid opera tor’s license. Sixty days on the roads, sus pended on payment of $300 fine and costs, was the penalty impos ed on Michael John Furey of Fort Bragg who was charged with careless nad reckless driving causing an accident. It was directed that defendant pay repairs to the Garner car and medical expenses, up to the amount of the firie,^of persons in jured. Sentence Appealed Jesse Norman Benton and Rich ard Willard, both of Aberdeen, Route 1, pleaded not guilty to a charge of larceny. The warrant for their arrest was amended to charge violation of the law against sharecroppers’ removing a crop without permis sion and without giving notice and without having satisfied all liens held by the landlord against the crop. Richard Willard was found guil ty of removing a crop without giving the landlord notice and Benton was found guilty of aiding and abetting Willard. Each entered appeal to Supe rior Court and bond for each was set at $300. Other Cases Other cases heard Monday, listing defendant, charge and dis position, were: Ray Jenkins, escaping from prison camp, 60 days on roads, to begin at expiration of former sen tence; Curtis L. Parks, Southern Pines, speeding 65, $10 and costs; Robert Elmer Capel, Pinehurst, speeding 65, $25 to include costs; Donald Alton Richardson, Eagle Springs, speeding 70, $15 and costs;. Charlie Ussery, West End, malicious injury to personal prop erty, 90 days on roads, su^ended on payment of $125 fine and costs and reimbursement of Pine hurst, Inc., for damages done to Pinehurst jail; Elbert Jean Phil lips, Troy, speeding 65, pleaded not guilty, found guilty of driving over 55, but not as much as 65, $20, to include costs; Janie B. Sheffield, Robbins, bedding and cohabiting, 60 days in jail, sus pended on payment of $25 fine and costs, on condition of good behavior for 12 months and on condition she not live with How ard Williams or any other man unless she is married to him (Wil liams was tried and found guilty of the same offense in recent court session). The window displays should be installed the first of the week, and allowed to remain in place throughout the game weekend to give everyone a chance to see and enjoy them. Colors of Curry High .school has not yet been learned, .but will be anounced in plenty of time for them to be used also in the decorations. , The contest has been a popular one here for several years. A brain-child of the late June Phil lips, an enthusiastic supporter of team activities from the 1946 in auguration of six-man football at Southern Pines High school, it was promoted by him each year, and this years’s decorations will he dedicated to his memory as well as the cause to which he was devoted.
