Mr. and Mrs. Arthur E. Spellis-
sy entertained at a joint “fare
well” party for about 30 young
friends of their children, Amy and
Arthur, on Wednesday of last
week.
Mrs. Paul Miner is entertaining
members of her Sunday School
class at the Villap Chapel on
Sunday with a picnic and base
ball game at her cottage off Mid
land Road.
Hobo Day
Saturday is “Hobo Day”, so
styled by members of the Sopho
more and Junior Classes of the
Pinehurst High School who are
hiring themselves out lor odd jobs
such as mowing lawns, cleaning
up yards, washing cars and win
dows, and baby sitting all that
day in order to swell next year’s
treasury so that the upcoming
Juniors and Seniors may make a
trip to New York City. To ob
tain the services of one or more
of these handy-boys (or girls), call

Firemen's Banquet
Members of the local Fire De
partment, their wives, and several
special guests, win be entertained
by Pinehurst, Inc., at their emnual
banquet, to bp held Saturday at
7:00 p.m. at the Pinehurst Country
Club. Entertainment of an infor
mal variety will be provided by
the Firemen themselves.
Brief Mention
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Parson
leave Friday for Brooklin, Me., for
the summer. Sailing with them
from Wrightsville aboard their
yacht “Zephyr” for the first leg
of the journey are Col. and Mrs.
Wallace W. Simpson, and Mr. and
Mrs. Harry M. Vale.
Mrs. Walter D. Hyatt left Wed
nesday for a short visit in Mill-
brook, N. Y., with Mrs. Heman
Gifford, after which she will go
to her place at Rangeley Lakes,
Me., where she will be joined by
her daughter. Miss Darst Hyatt,
who is going up from Boston for
fishing.

son where Dr. Cheatham is taking
part in services commemorating
the 100th anniversary of St. Tim
othy’s church, which was his par
ish prior to the Village Chapel,
Pinehurst.
Mrs. W. R; Craig of Havertown,
Pa., who is here on a visit to her
son, the Rev. Adam W. Craig, and
his family, is a patient at Moore
County Hospital this week.
Mr. and Mrs. Edwin S. Blodgett
leave Saturday for Chautauqua,
N. Y., where they will spend the
summer.
Mrs. Estel Miner, who has been
spending two months with her son
and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Paul Miner, left Monday by plane
from Fayetteville for her home in
St. Louis, Mo.
Mrs. Francis X. Anglin left this
week for NeW York City and the
Lake Placid Club, Lake Placid, N.
Y., where she will spend the sum
mer.
Faust Risley, who has been
spending several months here
with his daughter and son-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Keith Wed
lock, left Saturday by train for
his home in Huntington, L. I.
Mrs. Henry M. Dingley, Jr., of
Auburn, Me., is flying her Cessna
from Canada to Cuba in an Inter
national Air Race which began
Wednesday and which includes 27
planes privately-owned and pilot
ed by women. Mrs. Dingley will
stop off at Knollwood Airport en
route home, and is planning to
spend one night next week with
her mother, Mrs. Heizmann Mud-
gett.
Mrs. Mary P. Smith arrives to
day (Thursday) from Claymont,
Del., for a visit with Mrs. Rebe w!
Engels, on Airport Road. ^
Mrs. Harry Hoeg returns this
weekend to her home in Enp
wood, N. J., after a fortnight’s
stay at Barberry Cottage here.
