“Just stand your ground and
whistle,” advised a dog trainer.
But he didn’t say what tune.
The Raleigh Times suggested a
whistling course. The Raleigh
News & Observer advised whist
ling for a dog catcher. Mrs. Lou
ise Van Glahn of Chapel Hill, an
SPCA booster, said, “It’s up to the
readers to get friendly with the
dogs. It’s not up to the dogs.”
A CP&L spokesman agreed, “As

friendly suggestions, I’m afraid
we must go along with Mrs. Van
Glahn.”
So far, the dogs haven’t said a
word.
