Revenue derived from the sale

supports the State Wildlife Re
sources Commission, which is
dedicated to th^ conservation
and expansion of these great nat
ural resources and enforcement
of the protecting laws. Rep. H.
Clifton Blue of Aberdeen told
members of the Moore County
Wildlife club Tuesday night of
last week.
to addition, the Commission
receives from the U. S. govern
ment the federal taxes on sport
ing goods, in proportion to the
number of hunting and fishing
licenses sold in the State.
However, in answer to a query,
Rep. Blue said that fines paid in
connection with court cases in
volving violation of the game
laws go to the county school
fund, like any other fines.
The Commission has operated
as a separate State agency since
1947, when it was separated from
the State Department of Conser
vation and Development. Work
ing with it, but purely as a vol
unteer membership organization,
without legal powers, is the
North Carolina Wildlife Federa
tion, made up of community and
county clubs all over the State.
As a part of the Federation, the
Moore County Wildlife club and
others have a channel for expres
sion of their views on pertinent
legislation, and other matters af
fecting the cause they hold dear.

The meeting followed a deli

He outlined for them the prog

which they were interested, in
the current General Assembly.
The controversial “worm bill’’
has been shelved for the time be
ing, because of opposition from
all parts of the State; the bill in
creasing the costs of hunting and
fishing licenses has been passed,
and the “doe deer’’ bill, which
has received general endorse
ment of the local clubs, has not
yet come up for discussion.

Neighbor: Say, your new Olds sure
looks like a lot of car!
Olds Owner: That’s nothing,
wait’ll you take a ride.
{A few minutes later:)
Neighbor: Man-oh-man, where’d
aU that power come from? I’ve never felt anything like that before 1
Olds Owner: That’s Oldsmobile’s new J-2 Rocket Engine*!
Neighbor: What’s that? Tell me how it works.
Olds Owner: When you’re driving under ordinary conditions, it uses
only one carburetor. That means economy with a capital E. But
when you need a sudden burst of power, for safety s sake, you just
press the accelerator three-quarters of the way down—and two
additional carburetors cut in!
Neighbor: In other words, with J-2, yon can have economy when you
want it and power when you need it. That’s for me!
Olds Owner: Better see your Olds dealer. He’s expecting you!
