Page SIXTEEN THE PILOT—Southern Pines, North Carolina Y 23, ]' , THURSDAY, JANU^SP' J, 1958 Airborne Units Now At Mackall Elements of the 101st Airborne Division from Fort Campbell, Ky., parachuted Tuesday into Camp Mackall, south of Aberdeen,, to join in Sky Wave XI, the XVIII Airborne Corps command post exercise that got into full swing at noon Wednesday. Tuesday’s jumpers formed the second wave of 101st Division per sonnel arriving this week to par ticipate in the exercise at Camp Mackall. The first contingent air landed at the exercise area Mon day. Sky Wave is the Corps’ dress rehearsal for its participation in the third U. S. Army command post exercise “Lucky Charlie” scheduled for Fort Gordon, Ga., February 8-9. “Lucky Charlie” is a continuation of “Lucky Brave,” held at Fort Gordon last year. Also participating in Sky Wave will be the 82nd Airborne Divi sion, XVIII Airborne Corps Ar tillery and other Corps subordi nate units from Fort Bragg. The exercise, which winds up Friday afternoon, will be based on the combat situation to be used in ' Lucky Charlie, stressing the latest airborne doctrines and techniques. CLASSIFIED P. O. Mann of Southern Pines reports that the name of a proiessional organization of which he IS a member has been changed. The National Association of Chiropodists now officially be come the “American Podiatry Association,” Dr. Mann said. The local man explained that for 40 years members of the asso ciation have been known inter changeably as “chiropodists” and “podiatrists.” He said the public finds the new designation easier to use. Miller, retired, told of the history and world-wide op erations of the Red Cross, noting particularly the varied functions and variety of services of the American Red Cross. General Miller, who heads the 1958 Moore County Red Cross membership campaign, formerly lived in Westminster, Md., where he was disaster preparedness re lief chairman. He was vice-chair man of the Moore County drive last year. Mrs. Audrey Kennedy, execu tive secretary of the Moore Coun ty Red Cross chapter, also was a guest of the club. Both Mrs. Ken nedy and General Miller were in troduced by Garland Pierce. General Miller said that in his work with the Red Cross cam paign last year, he had been sur prised at the number of local citi zens who appeared to have doubts in their minds about the value of the Red Cross: The speaker then described in some detail the various Red Cross welfare services, with special at tention to its aid to members of the armed forces, and the organi zation’s disaster relief program.
