Closing Date For
All-Risk Crop
Insurance Is Set
Less than one month remained
today for farmers in the Border
Belt to apply for Federal all-risk
crop insurance, according to
Julian E. Mann, state director of
the FCIC.
Closing date, he said, is May
23. The same applies in all coun
ties in which cotton insurance is
available. (Moore has the tobac
co insurance, but not the cotton).

Wendell B. Kelly of Carthage, a
candidate for sheriff in the Demo
cratic primary.

cians which was held at the Char
lotte Hotel in Charlotte April 25-

they attended the annual Caroli-
na-Virginia Hospital Association
conference.

and placed them in the files of the
Mecklenburg force—Kelly has es
tablished a reputation as one of
the outstanding officers in the
countp^. He has received nation
al and international recognition
m his field, serving as past pres
ident and past chairman of the
board of the International Associ
ation for Identification, an organi
zation with members all over the
world.

David A. Muse Of
Carthage Dies;
Rites Conducted
David Alton Muse, 78, died last
Wednesday night at his home in
Carthage.
He is survived by his wife and
four daughters; Miss Aline Muse
of Wilmington, Mrs. Lynn Fields
of Sanford, Mrs. Bruce Bryant
and Mrs. Norman Cagle, both of
Carthage; four sons, C. E. Muse
of New Bern, Bascom Muse of
Goldsboro, Ernest Muse of Car
thage and MSgt. John Robert
Muse of the U. S. Air Force sta
tioned in San Antonio, Texas;
two sisters, Mrs. T. P. Adams of
Charlotte and Mrs. Erlyn Cole
of Chesterfield, S. C.; and 15
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Fri
day at the Carthage Methodist
Church, conducted by the Rev.
W. E. -Howard, assisted by the
Rev. W. S. Golden. Burial fol-
lowed in Cross Hill cmnetery. j
