Sutton, president of Carolina Power & Light Com pany, addresses a joint meeting of the Sandhills Kivvanis Club, the Lions Club and the Rotary Club. Members of those organi zations will, at the adjournment of their program, attend the deri ication services and open house in a body. Voit Gilrrore, who was Mayor when contracts for the building were let and who has served as chairman of the dedication day program, announced today a full slate of activities for the occasion. Following Mr. Sutton's address, the new budding will ho thrown open for inspection by those at tending. Town Councilman arid department heads will be there to show visitors through. Mr. Gill's address is scheduled for 2 o'clock, to be followed by the formal dedication. Cere monies will be held in the Coun cil Chamber, From 1 o'clock to 1:45 the band of West Southern Pines w ill pre sent a concert, and following the dedication program the band of East Southern Pines school will provide music. Cookies, coffee and soft drinks will be served after the dedica tion. Invitations to the program have boon extended to elected offi cials of the county, other towns in the county, and to various state officials. The building, which costs ap proimately St50,000, contains the town's administrative offices, po lice department, jail, Council Chamber, and central records storage. Designed by Thomas T Hayes and Associates, Southern Pines architectural firm, the structure was built by T. E. Saunders Com l any of Troy. Except for minor landscaping projects, the building is now com plete. Mayor's Proclamation WHEREAS, the Town of Southern Pines has reach ed a new milestone in the civic progress of the commun ity by the completion of its new Municipal Center Build- ! ing, and WHERE IS, the seventh day of January, 1959, has been designated as dedication day for the said Municipal Center Building, and WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of South ern Pines d> sires that the citizens and residents of the town participate wholeheartedly in the dedication cere monies to the end that the day may be significant in the growth and forward movement if our town; Now, therefore. Martin Caldwell, rec tor of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, will leave for Washing ton Monday to attend a special church conference at the Nation al Cathedral. He was one of 15 Episcopal clergymen from throughout the country to bo invited to the con ference by the Rt? Rev. .Angus Dun, Bishop of Washington. The conference, to be center ed on the general theme of Chris tianity and Social Issues, will last for one week. In the absence of Mr. Caldwell, the Rev. Harry Cobev of Hamlet will conduct the Epiphany serv ices next Tuesday at noon.
