Mrs. George D. Carter and son, Ben, left Monday for a week’s vacation in Quincy, Fla. They will be joined there by'Mrs. Car ter’s sisters, Mrs. O. E. Payne, Mrs. H. E. Nixon and Mrs. Amos Davis. Mr. and Mrs. Herman A. Campbell of Pinehurst were Sunday night dinner guests of Mrs. L. P. Tyson. John A. Lang., Jr., of Washing ton, D. C. attended the Jeffer- son-Jackson Day dinner in Ra leigh Saturday night and came to Carthage for a weekend visit with his sister, Mrs. Howard Gardner. Miss Flossie Ezzell of Lilling- ton spent Easter with Mrs. How ard Gardner and daughters. Miss Mamie Williamson is home after a stay at Moore Mem orial Hospital with a fractured arm. Mr. and Mrs. P. H. McDonald, Jr., and children of Raleigh were Sunday guests of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. H. McDonald. Misses Mary Gilbert and Jose phine Cole of Raleigh were at home over the weekend with their mother, Mrs. Emma Cole. Mrs. Phil Owens and daughter, Dianne, of Durham were Easter guests of their aunts, Mrs. Jim Evans and Miss Bess McCaskill. Miss Ann Currie of Charlotte and Miss Ruth Currie of Agnes Scott College spent their Easter holidays with Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Currie. Mr. and Mrs. Haririss Clark and daughters, Misses Elizabeth and Marie. Clark, and Willis Clark of Jackson Springs, Mrs. Ruth B. Nowell of Raleigh and Mr .and Mrs. Charles Barringer, Jr., and daughter Ahn of Rob bins were guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Barringer. Miss Bess McCaskill and Mrs. W. Gilliam Brown attended a tea Saturday afternoon honoring Mrs. Edmund Muskie at the Sir Walter Hotel in Raleigh, and the Jefferson-Jackson Day dinner which followed at which Senator Muskie of Maine spoke. Solicitor M. G. Boyette was in Raleigh Saturday night for the Jefferson-Jackson Day dinner. Mr. and Mrs. D. K. Muse and daughter of Mebane, Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Muse and son of Dunn and Mr. and Mrs. Harold S. Muse and son of Charlotte spent the Easter holidays at the Muse home place on Glendon Road. Mrs. J. K. Roberts returned home Saturday from an extended visit with Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Roberts in Orangeburg, S. 'C. Cowell and Lloyd Cowell of Belpre, Ohio, George Cowell, Jr., and Miss Barbara Brown of Virginia Beach, Va., were Easter weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wilton H. Brown. Mr. and Mrs. H. Lee Thomas, Jr., of Charlotte spent Easter with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Lambert and Mi;, and Mrs. Thomas. Mrs. M. J. McPhail was in Charlotte for the Easter holidays with Mrs. Grace McDowell. Mr .and Mrs. Holt McNeill were in Dobson over the week end with Mrs. McNeill’s father, Mr. Norman. Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Stewart and children came Friday to spend the holidays with their pa rents, Mr. and Mrs. M. T. Stew art, returning Monday to their home in Oak Ridge, Tenn. Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Carter are spending this week in Quitman, Ga. (Held over from last weeki) Baptismal Rites The sacrament of baptism was administered to John Gilmer Seawell, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman O. Seawell, Sunday morning at the worship service in the Carthage Presbyterian Church by the pastor, the Rev. B. E. Dotson. Guest Orgemist Mrs. M. J. McPhail was guest organist Saturday night for the installation of the incoming of ficers of the Eastern Star, in the Masonic Hall in Sanford. At one time Mrs. McPhail serv ed as organist of grand officers for the Eastern Star of North Carolina. Feunily Night Members of the Carthage Methodist Church observed Fam ily Night at the church Sunday with a supper. The guest speaker was Terry Sanford, young lawyer and lay man of Fayetteville. He was in troduced by Atty. W. D. Sabiston Personals John M. Currie, Jr., of Phila delphia, Pa. is home for school holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John M. Currie. Mrs. Samuel Turner of Lake Worth, Fla., is here on a visit to her daughter, Mrs. Wilton H. Brown and family. Mrs. W. H. Currie and sons. John L. and Tommy, were in Rai leigh last week. Mrs. Currie at^ tended the Governor’s reception with Senator Currie and the boys visited the Senate and other places of interest. Mrs. W. G. Caldwell is back atfer a visit to her daughter, Mrs. James Davis, and other relatives in Neeses, S. C. , Mrs. Carlos MacLeod and daughters. Misses Martha and Isobelle, of Olivia visited Miss Janie MacLeod Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. David Hume and daughter of Greensboro were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Hume. Miss Mamie Williamson is a patient in Moore Memorial Hos pital, having sustained a fractur ed arm in a fall. Mrs. Harry Schler of Augusta, Ga., came Sunday to visit her mother, Mrs. R. S. Shields, who has not been quite so well. Mrs. Rosa Bumpas and Mrs. Lena Ladu of Greensboro were weekend guests of Mrs. M. J. Mc Phail. Mrs. L. R. Beam of Asheville is spending several days with her sister-in-law, Mrs. A. McN. Blue.
