Page FOUR Women’s Activities TELEPHONE 2-fia] 2 Officers of Does to Attend Grand Lodge at Minneapolis Drove 42, BPO Does, met Monday night at the South ern Pines Country Club, with Mrs. M. G. McRae presiding. Mrs. McRae, as president, and Mrs. W. M. Johnson, a five-year officer, will represent the Drove at Grand Lodge meeting in Minne apolis, Minn., June 13-18. Refreshments were served by a committee composed of Mrs. George Little, chairman: Mrs. Ray McDonald, Mrs. Tylon Stubbs, and Miss Sara Longscope. During the summer the Drove will hold one meeting per month instead of two, the next one to be the first Tuesday in July. They sat on straw mats around a long-candle- Ilshted table on the porch, where they enjoyed a Chinese dinner featuring barbecued spareribs and chow mein. John Ray, a member of the rising senior class of the Uni versity, of North Carolina, got home Friday.-He plans to go back tomorrow for five weeks of sum mer school, after which he will go to McDill Air Force Base in T^pa, Fla., for four weeks of Air Force ROTC training. James Humphrey, son of Mr. and Mrs, Emerson Humphrey and a rising senior at Elon Col lege, was at home for a weekend visit. He plans to attend both sessions of summer school and will serve as a couselor at Camp Moonelon, Congregational Church summer camp. George Reams, who completed his freshman year at UNC, came home on Wednesday of last week and left today for Linville, where he has employment with John Pottle for the summer as golf ranger. Bill Marley completed his Junior year at N. C. State and came home Sunday. His plans for the summer are indefinite. He will spend this weekend with his fraternity on a beach party. Jean Franklin, who has co.m- pleted one year at Coker College, has an office position with Amerotron Company in Aber deen for summer work. Kathryn Ann Dwight was graduated from Woman’s Col lege in Greensboro and is now at home with her parents, the F. M. Dwights, arid brother, Francis, at their place on old Highway 1 north. She plans to spend a good part of the summer at home and to do some visiting. Next Monday she will go to Bluefield, W. Va., for the wedding of Miss Nancy Crockett and Harold Bray, Jr., of Atlanta, Ga., which takes place June 13 and in which she is to be maid of honor. The two girls were roommates in their freshman and sophomore years at Womap’s College. Nancy transferred to UNC, Chapel HiU, but they kept up their close friendship. The bridegroom-to-be will graduate this month from Columbia Seminary in Georgia. Julian Pleasants has complet ed his junior year at Davidson College. He is to begin advanced Army ROTC training at Fort Bragg the 20th. Marion Caton, who has com pleted her freshman year at Woman’s College, will have an office position with Amerotron Company in Aberdeen this sum mer. Sue Jones completed a business course at Woman’s College and has a position in Greensboro. She plans to spend this weekend at home. Her parents are the Leon Joneses. The Gambles Hold Open House for Graduates, Faculty Mr. and Mrs. David W. Gamble entertained at an open house at their home on Massachusetts Avenue for members of the graduating class of Southern Pines High School and the high school faculty following the bac calaureate sermon at The Church of Wide Fellowship Sunday night. CLARA MILDRED HORNER Twelve years in school with never an absence marked on her record is the achievement of Clara Mildred Horner, one of this week’s graduates of Southern Pines High School. She is the daughter of Mr.” and Mrs. W. C. Horner of 170 East Illinois Avenue. Clara is described as a quiet, cooper ative student, well liked by her associates. She is the first in a number of years to' graduate from the local school with a perfect attend ance record. The group left from the church at 6:30 a. m. Saturday and re turned Sunday evening around 7:30. Programs for the next six months were planned, and swim- ming, fishing and games were en joyed. McNeill was honored at dinner at Hamel’s on Wednesday of last week by two young friends whom she had helped in learning the Presbyte rian catechism and whom she had heard recite it.
