Her waltz length dress was of white silk chiffon with a head band of alencon lace flowers. She carried a white ace tate basket of mixed summer flowers. Wearing dresses like that of the honor attendant were the bridesmaids. Miss Evelyn Bruton of Candor, college roommate of the bride; Miss Nancy Thompson of Matthews; Miss Mary Louise Meacham of Huntersville; and Miss Vivian Tucker of West End. The bride’s cousins, Carolyn and Donna Redding of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., were flower girls. The bridegroom’s brother, Robert Waters, of Star caried the rings. The honorary bridesmaids were Misses Ann and Ruth Fleming of Greenville, Miss Cara Ann Poole of Candor, Miss Claudia McIn tosh of Star, Misses Ann and Mari lyn McIntosh of Asheboro and Miss Linda Williams of Eagle Springs. Mr. Waters was his son’s best man. Ushers were Sherwood Nance of Durham, cousin of the bride; Larry Thompson of Star; William Bates of Derita; and James McIntosh of Asheboro, uncle of the bride. Music was presented by Scott Parson of Can dor, organist, and Miss Leslie Winsette of Galax, Va., soloist who sang “Dreaming” and “The Lord’s Prayer.” Mrs. Roy Williams served as director for the wedding. For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Bost wore a dress of blue lace with a matching lace h?l- Mrs. Waters wore a dress of rose lace with matching accessories. The bride’s maternal grandmo ther wore a dress of mint green and they all had corsages of pur ple orchids. The bride is a M^y 31 graduate of Woman’s College of the Uni versity of North Carolina at Greensboro with a degree in Home Economics. Mr. Waters, graduate of Wake Forest College, served two years in the Marine Corps Reserve and last year was instructor at Oak HiU Academy, Mouth of Wilson, Va. At Wake Forest he was a member of the Sigma Chi Social Fraternity For a wedding trip the bride changed to a blue linen sheath, elbow length sleeves and pink and white accessories. This dress was also designed and made by the bride. The bride and groom will be members of the high school faculty at Candor for the coming year. Following the ceremony the bride’s parents received the wed ding guests at their home. Spending last week with Mrs. E. R. Outland was her sister-in- law, Mrs. Sam McDuffie of Tar- boro. Stephen Johnson had a tonsi- lectomy at Duke last week. Chris McDonald was home from State summer school for the weekend. Joe Eifort and Clifton Munn were here fronj High Point summer sc}iool and Joe was the Sunday dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Fletcher. Merle Flet cher was home from Raleigh. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Monroe, Jr., who have recently moved fo Ra leigh, spent the weekend with^ the Fred Monroes. Covered Dish Supper Mrs. Bill Poley and Mrs. Archie Farmer were hostesses to a “va cation time” covered dish supper for the Woman’s Club Thursday evening in the recreation hall of the Presbyterian Church. From the mantle hung a fisherman’s net entertwined with sea shells, on the walls were travel maps and vacation folders. Sand buck ets decorated the serving table and each guest’s place was mark ed with a gilded sea shell as a favor. The members gave a ris ing ovation in appreciation of the leadership of Mrs. M. C. McDon ald for the past year. The follow ing officers were installed for the coming year: President, Mrs. George Houck; Vice-President, Mrs. G. A. Munn; Recording Sec retary, Mrs. W. E. Jackson; Corre sponding Secretary, Mrs. E. R. Outland; Treasurer, Mrs. J. F. Sinclair, and Parliamentarian, Mrs. J. H. Poole. Bible School Vacation Bible School was held last week at the Baptist Church with Rev. J. C. Halliburton serv ing as principal for children from 3-16. Mrs. Halliburton was pianist and Miss Jean Hill was Secretary. Department directors were as follows: Nursery, Misses Louise Baughn, Betty Gibson, and Jean Hannah; Beginners, Mrs. Jessie Saunders; Primaries, Mrs. Jack Murrary, Mrs. Ed Baughn, and Miss Carol Blake; Junior Girls, Mrs. Bobbie Dunn, Mrs. Ina Bol ton, and Miss Frances Atkins; Junior Boys, Bobbie Dunn, Dew ey Saunders, and Jessie Saunders; and Intermediates, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Greene. Refreshments were served each evening by a committee composed of Mrs. Dennis Greene and Mrs. Lucile Dunn. On Friday evening, a con secration and rededication service was held with the Junior and In termediate Departments meeting jointly.
