Johnstoii, Jr., engineer for the Eighth Highway Division, has listed work completed on 23 roads, several of them in Moore County, during the past month. Sand seal was placed on the following roads in the county: 4.3 miles from the Red Branch Road northeast to Governor Wil liams’ Tomb Road; one mile of Morganton Road from US 15-501 east to Southern Pines Armory; 2.1 miles of Morganton Road from US 15-501 west to NC 211 in Pinehurst; 2.4 miles from NC 73 in Jackson Springs south to Richmond County; two miles from Jackson Springs west tp Richmond County; 2.8 miles from old NC 211 south to end of pave ment at Samarcand Manor; 1.5 miles from NC 27 toward Candor to Montgomery County; 1.9 miles from NC 27 northeast via Flint Hill Church to the Old Plank Road; one mile of old NC 211- Loop Road off the present NC 211; and portions of old NC 211, from the present road west via Eagle Springs to NC 211 near the Montgomery County line. Drag seal was placed on 2.2 miles of road from NC 211 north east to the Carthage-West End road. Damage Suits Totaling $450,000 Are Filed Stemming From Auto Accident Three suits for damages total ing more than $450,000 have been filed in Moore Superior Court as result of an accident on the Mid land Road, between Southern Pines and Pinehurst, March 18, 1958. Plaintiffs are Mrs. Margaret M. Warman' as executrix of the es tate of James S. Warman, deceas ed, her husband, manager of the Dunes Club on Midland Road, Margaret M. Warman, personally, and Edith Fitzgibbon, both of Southern Pines. / Mrs. Warman and Mrs. Fitzgib bon allege they were in the cai whose death three months later she attributes to injuries from the accident; $150,000 for her personal injuries, $1,775 for medi cal expenses and $6,750 for loss of the Warmans’ Cadillac. Mrs. Fitzgibbon claims $15,000 for per sonal injuries. Mrs. Ewing Wins State Trapshoot Event In Durham Mrs. Robert Ewing of North Valley Road, wife of Southern Pines’ mayor, successfully de fended her championship last week in the North Carolina Woman’s Trapshooting event held in Durham. Mrs. Ewing, who first won the title last year, broke 188 of a possible 200 targets. A past champion in New Jer sey (1950 and 1952), Mrs. Ewing rates as one of the top trap shoot ers in the nation. Inflation is no modem head ache. According to The World Book Encyclopedia, price-control laws are believed to have been enforced as early as 1500 B. C. in Babylonia. Robbins Man Is Killed Saturday In Tractor Mishap Curtis C. Williamson, 57,^ of Route 1, Robbins, was killed Sat urday when the tractor he was driving overturned about eig’nt miles north of Robbins. Williamson had been combin ing wheat at a farm and was re turning home when* the accident occurred. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Josie Garner Williamson; three daughters, Mrs. W. D. Garner of Burlington, Mrs. Johnny Hussey of Route 2, Robbins, and Miss Grace Williamson of the home; one son, Charles of .the home, his step-mother, Mrs. Ada William son of Route 2, Robbins; three sisters, Mrs. B. H. McNeill and Mrs. Jessie Lambert both of Route 1, Seagrove and Mrs. Ho mer Lambert of Route 2, Rob bins; two brothers, C F. Wil liamson of Danville, Va>, Elbert Williamson of Route 1, Seagrove; and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 3 p. m. Monday at the Smyrna Methodist Church. Burial follow ed in the church cemetery.
