EHHMAN PICKLER Dinner Meeting Members of the Ida Combs Cir cle enjoyed a potluck dinner Monday evening at the home of Mrs. John H. Carpenter. Mrs. Carpenter presented the devotions and Mrs- William Mather, Mrs. Wesley McMurray, Mrs. Brady Brooks and Mrs. W. K. Carpenter, Jr., gave the program “Your Dol lar At Work.” Ten members were present for the dinner. Personals Mr. and Mrs. Hurley Short and children, Barbara and Colin, spent last weekend with Mr. and Mrs. A. W- Council at Newport News, Va. They attended the Jamestown Festival and returning home came 'by the Outer Banks and Manteo. Mac and Johnny Fiddner re turned home Friday Eifter spend ing several weeks with their grandmother, Mrs. John Fiddner, Sr. Mrs. R. R. Morgan of Raleigh and Mrs. E. J. Caddell and Miss Dewie Kelly of Jonesboro Heights spent Saturday with Mrs. W- R. Griffin. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Van Bos- kerck and Miss Sylvia Thompson went to Boone last week to visit Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Harmon. Syl via remained for a'longer stay. Ronald and Tommy Thompson are spending the week in Leaks- ville with their uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. J- D. Thompson. Mrs. Lang Hale of Fayetteville is visiting her daughter, Mrs. H. L. Sessoms, and Mr. Sessoms. Mr. and Mrs. R. G. McCaskill and children, Nancy and Douglas, are spending the week near Southport- Mrs. J. R. Lampley and Mrs. John Kirk are spending several days in Norwood and Albemarle with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Carpenter were called to Atkinson last week because of the illness of an aunt. Mrs. George Williams of Clio, S. C., is visiting in the home of her son, C- W. Williams, and Mrs. Williams. Mrs. W. R. Griffin has returned home from Kenilworth, N. J., where she visited her son, Wil liam Griffin, and family. Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Woodcock, Jr-, and children are spending the week with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Gray of Atkinson and Mr. and Mrs. Woodcock of Wil lard.
