Barringer were at home Sunday and honored their father on his birthday at an out door picnic supper Sunday eve ning. Mr. Barringer recently retired as conductor on the Norfolk- Southern after serving 40 years. Mr. and Mrs, Barringer are vacationing this week in the Western North Carolina moun tains. Married 50 Years Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Vest were entertained at a reception at their home on Route 1, West End, Sun The meeting was opened with prayer by Mrs. John Cline- Mrs. Charles A. Cox gave some interesting highlights on four composers and Mrs. John Cline ^reviewed the life of Strauss. A piano solo, “The Blue Waltz,” by Morris was played by Miss Mildred Sinclair. Mrs. Colin Spencer, Jr., played the “Merry Widow’s Waltz” and a waltz by Charlotte Davis. A duet, “Invita tion To The Dance,” by Weber was presented by Mrs. L. R. Sugg and Mrs- H. G. Poole, and a piano solo, “On The Terrace,” Evans, by Mrs. H. J. Hall. Mrs. Harry Byrd of Branch- day afternoon, by their eight Mrs. Sam Deahl children, on their 50th wedding anniversary- Also present were 20 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Music Club The Carthage Music Club was entertained Friday night by Mrs. L. B. Womack and her mother, Mrs. R. L. Burns, at the Womack home on Sunset Drive, with Mrs. M. J. McPhail, president, presid- of Kenilsworth, Ill., were guests of the club. A frozen salad, sandwiches, and an iced drink were served. Mrs. Colin Spencer, Jr-, and Miss Ruth Tyson assisted Mrs. Womack in serving.
