McNEILL Coffee Hour The Rev. and Mrs. Rene Bid- ieaux were honored at a coffee hour at the Methodist Pcirsonage on Sunday afternoon, December 27, between the hours of four and five o’clock. The Rev. and Mrs. Brooks, Patten received at the door, welcomed the guests, and presented them to the receiving line composed of the honorees and Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Edge, par ents of Mrs. Bideaux. The parsonage was decorated throughout the entertainment area with Christmas decorations. The refreshment table was over laid with a white cloth and cen tered with a wreath of greenery and red berries. Lighted tapers in silver candelabra accented by greenery completed the setting. Mrs. Pat Satterwhte and Mrs. H. W. Doub poured coffee and guests helped themselves to 'individual cakes. Around 60 friends called dur ing the social hour. Leave for Costa Rica The Rev. and Mrs. Rene Bid eaux and children spent Christ mas with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Edge, and left oh Mon day evening by train for a stop over in Savannah, Ga., to visit Mrs. Bideaux’s sister and family and then on to Miami, Fla., where they will leave on Decern^ her 31 for Costa Rica. They are being sent to Costa Rica as mis sionaries from the Methodist Church and go with the prayers and interest of their many friends and relatives in Aberdeen. Home and Garden Club The December meeting of the Aberdeen Home and Garden Club met with Mrs. H. W. Doub and Mrs. F. S. Weaver as host esses in the home of Mrs. Doub. She pre sented. some of her second grade pupils attired in their red and white band costumes, who gave a Christmas program of song, poetry, and renditions on their toy instruments. Following a short business ses-r Sion, the hostesses invited the members , to the dining ro6m where the table contained festive refreshments of cakes, candies and nuts with punch. Briefs I Mr. and Mrs. John Camp of Franklin, Va., spent the Christ mas holidays with their daugh ter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Johnson, and family. Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Herring spent Chrstmas day with Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Herring, Jr., and sons in Fayetteville. Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Herring were Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Herring, Jr., and sons. Miss Jane Herring’ Miss Joan Snow, all of Fayette ville, and Dr. Charles Phillips of Raleigh. Miss Snow remained for a week’s visit. Christmas weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Smith were Mr. and Mrs. Jackson Smith of Winston-Salem. Christmas day guests of the Smiths and Mrs. Grace Sloan were Major and Mrs. Scott Russell of Ft. Bragg. ^ Mrs. C. C. Bethune spent the Christmas holidays with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Townsend, and family in Laurinburg. Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Mack Wallace and Miss Jo Sue Wallace were Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Farmer and children of Wrightsville Beach, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Farmer and children of Wagram, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Parrish of Mullins, S. C., Mr. and Mrs; H. J. Edge and Hubert Edge of Aberdeen, Miss Gertrude Edge of Richmond, Va., and the Rev! and Mrs. Rene Bideaux and chil dren. Lt. and Mrs. L. B. Harrington, Jr., and son, Benjy, were recent guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Harrington. Misses Gail, Judy, and E.etty Dare Funderburk and David Fun derburk spent the weekend in Pageland, S. C. Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Lawhon had as their weekend guests their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Vance Hardison and son. Carthage Games Set For Tuesday Southern Pines High School’s basketball teams will reopen their seasons, following Christ mas vacation, next week with games at Carthage Tuesday night, January 5, and with West End here Friday, January 8. A schedule for all high school basketball games in Moore Coun ty in January appears elsewhere in today’s Pilot. Crowleys Open New Park-’n Eat Drive-In Today A new Sandhills eating estab lishment opens today (Thursday), the Park-’n Eat Drive-in, on high way 15-501-211, near the intersec tion with No. 1 highway, between Southern Pines and Aberdeen. The Drive-In is operated by Mr. and Mrs. Dee Crowley who are well known in this area. For the past seven years they have lived in Pinedene. For five years they operated the Clam Box on No. 1 highway, between Southern Pines and Aberdeen, and for two years the Midget Grill on the old No. 1 highway at Manly.
