McNEIlX Jayvee Awards The Jaycees should be congrat ulated upon their fine choices of recipients of outstanding awards for the year. The Rev. R. D. Spear, Jr., received the Distin guished Service Award which was presented by the club pres ident, Vann Clark. Mr. Spear, in the few years that he has been pastor of Aberdeen’s First Baptist Church, has devoted himself to the entire community and has , taken part in many of its activi ties. Lynwood Moon was presented the Outstanding Boss Certificate, . and Jesse Wilson was presented . the “'•Jaycee Key Man Certifi cate.” These presentations were made at the JC annual Bosses and Award Night banquet held last week at J;he Howard Johnson Restaurant. Speaker of the eve ning was H. Clifton Blue, who also presented Mr. Wilson’s award. Mclimis^ Town Clerk Curtis Mclnnis, advertising manager of the Sandhill Citizen, will become Clerk of the Town of Aberdeen March 1, succeeding Robert F. Yates, who has resign ed his position. Mr. Mclnnis is an outstandinjg member of this community. He serves as a Sunday School teach er and a deacon at Bethesda Pres byterian Church, and is current ly Master of Roman Eagle Ma sonic Lodge. Piano Recital Mrs. James Long presented her piano pupils iri a studio recital in the high school auditorium oh. Friday afternoon, February 12. This is the first of a number of ■monthly piano musicales being planned by Mrs. Long for her pu pils prior to their public recital in May. Taking part in Friday’s recital were: Julia Mobley, Tony Smithy Kemp Lowder, Debbie Morgan, Joe Caddell, Gary Garrison, Mary Alice Robertson, Jewel Thomp son, Betty Dare Funderburk, Nor man, K. Edwards, Viola Collins, Connie Singletary, Jimmy Frye, Patricia Kennedy, Larry Mobley, Danny Hall, Earlene Lampley, Janet Oldham, Jeannie Frye, Cheryl Gschwind, Martha Rob bins, Gail Gschwind, Brenda Cooper, Nancy McCaskill, Tessie Troutman, Gloria CfSfce,' and Lin da Edwards, . . I Several visitors were present including Safaleslie Alpert, Mrs. O. P. Troutman and Mrs. Evelyn Garrison. Following the recital, the group enjoyed refreshments in the piano studio. Briefs Mrs. R. D. Spear, Jr., and chil dren are spending this week in Kinston with relatives while Mr. Spear is in Gastonia where he is attending a state-wide Training Union Clinic. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Long visited friends in Raleigh Saturday eve ning. Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Williams and family visited relatives in High Point on Sunday. Mrs. Win nie Black of High Point return ed with them for a visit of several days. Miss Mollie McDonald, mission ary to the Belgian Congo, spent several days recently with her sister, Mrs. W. F. Caddell,_ and family. Mrs. Frank Mizell is ^pending some time in Hattiesburg, Miss., with Miss Mary Stuart Harmon. Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Muse are spending a two weeks’ vacation in Lakeland and other parts of Florida. The Rev. and Mrs. Lardner MoOre and children, Lardner Charles and Anne, spent Friday night with Mr. and Mrs. Frank McNeill and family. The Moores are missionaries of the Presbyte rian Church, U. S. in Japan and are on furlough this year. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Allport and son, Tom, of Franklin, Va., spent the weekend as guests of Mrs. Allport’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Talbot Johnson. Miss Blanchette Capelle accompanied them hoitie for a visit. Miss Janet Farrell of Mel bourne, Fla., is visiting her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Farrell. Mrs. W.
