SUNRISE THEATRE With •‘‘’The Bramble Bush” Warner Bros, has undertaken a daring screen project and one rife with controversy and certain to evoke as much world-wide in terest and astonishment as any film of the past decade. It is based on the novel by Charles Mergendahl, which in itself was a monument of literary controversy and which aroused comment and lifted eyebrows from Cape Cod to Baja California. The film is a Milton Sperling United States Pictures produc tion, and starts Sunday at the Sunrise Theatre. “The Bramble Bush” cast is headlined by Richard Burton, Barbara Rush, Jack Carson, Angie Dickinson, James Dunn, Henry Jones and Tom Drake. It was di rected in Technicolor by Daniel Petrie, prominent stage and tele vision director, who is making his directorial film bow with this picture. The picture deals straightfor wardly with the scandals of a small Cape Cod town. The more controversial aspects of the story have been treated by director t Page SEVEN Petrie for their narrative value only and not for sensationalism.
