Page EIGHTEEN THE PILOT—Southern Pines, North Carolina THURSDAY, JUNE 30, 1960 SOUTHERN PINES RECORDER'S COURT Third Youth Convicted of Cursing, Threatening Negro Man at Hospital The third of three Robbins white youths accused of threat ening and cursing Arthur Clark, Southern Pines Negro, as he was sitting on a bench waiting for his wife, Ola, outside Moore'Memorial Hospital, was convicted and sen tenced by Judge W. Harry Fullen- wider in Southern Pines Record- . er’s Court yesterday. Dallas Mofield was sentenced to one month on the roads, suspend ed on payment of $15 fine and the costs, on condition that he not be convicted of a similar offense for 12 months. He was also placed ' under the supervision of the State probation officer. The sentence was identical to those given James Chriscoe and Richard Cole when they were tried May 25. Judge Fullenwider had at first handed down straight road terms for the two youths at that time, but later suspended the sentences and put them on probation. Clark and his wife testified May 25 that the trio—who told the court that they had drunk some beer and were “just riding around”—had threatened Clark with a knife and cursed him as he sat on a bench near his park ed car. Judge Fullenwider lec tured the youths on their offense against freedom of the individual which, he said, was one of the great freedoms of this nation.
