Missing Equipment
Was Not Stolen
The mystery of the guns and
ifshing equipment which disap
peared from the Midland Road
home of M. C. Hufford has been
solved.
Mr. Hufford told Deputy Sher
iff J. A. Lawrence, who was in
vestigating the reported theft,
that he had found out his son,
who lives at Norfolk, Va., bor-
. rowed the equipment during the
summer and forgot to tell him
about it.
Mr. Hufford, manager of The
Manor, at Pinehurst, a resident
of Buffalo, N! Y., during th.e sum
mer, reopened his winter home
September 15. Some days later
he reported the sports equipment
missing, but could not determine
whether it had been taken while
the house wasclose d for the sum
mer or after his return. Word
from his son this week cleared up
the “robbery.”
