The Rev. W. K. Fitch, Jr. performed the ceremony at 5 o’clock. Wed ding music was presented by Miss Shelia Maness of Southern Pines. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Sarvis of Sou thern Pines. She is a graduate of Southern Pines High School. Mr. Williams is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Williams of New London. He is attending Gaston Technical Institute in Gastonia. The couple will reside in Cram- erton. Peggy Ann, whose fifth birthday was last Sunday, was stricken with a severe infection about ten day ago and rushed to the hos pital where doctors fought for her iife. “She is coming along fine now,” said Mr. Bell, “and is out of danger, but it will be a long re covery.” Mrs. Bell is staying in Durham with her daughter. Mrs. Caulfield, who lived here for a number of years, has many friends in this section. She was a well-known movie star of the silent films era, and appeared with many famous players— among them the late Lionel Barrymore. Mrs. Caulfield was a member of the First Baptist Church in Southern Pines and the film was shown in the church here several months ago. Mrs. Barney Avery Entertains For Miss Judy Chandler Miss Judy Chandler was hono ree at a kitchen shower last Thursday evening when Mrs. Barney C. Avery entertained at her home on Maples Road. Junior Woman’s Club To Meet Tuesday The Junior Woman’s Club will hold its regular meeting on March 12, at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church. A very interesting pro gram is planned by J. E. Spring Fashion Show Scheduled April 8 At The Carolina At an executive board meeting of the Woman’s Auxiliary of Moore Memorial Hospital yester day morning, it was announced by Mrs. Dana, president, that the Spring Fashion Show, sponsored by The Carolina and Razook’s, will be held in the ballroom of the hotel on Monday evening, April 8. The show, which is always one of the season’s highlights social ly, is for the benefit of the Auxil iary and St. Joseph’s Guild of both hospitals. Mrs. Daniel Delany is general chairman. Mrs. Michael Pishko and Mrs. Duwayne Gadd will as sist Mrs. Delany for the Woman’s Auxiliary. St. Joseph’s Hospital Guild Nets $2,116 At Dunes Club Dinner Net proceeds of $2,116.00 were realized by St. Joseph’s Hospi tal Guild from the annual dinner danoe held Monday at the Dunes Club. A guest at the Mid Pines Club, John Sibley, won a golf bag, and another guest there, John Fricke of Marion Station, Pa., won a gift of five camellia bushes which were donated by Frank Howe, owner-manager of Claren don Gardens in Pinehurst. The winner planned to give these to a local person as he could not use them himself. The Dunes Club was full and guests enjoyed the evening of good dining, dancing and an ex cellent floor show. Large Group Enjoys Bridge At Country Club Tuesday Night There were six and one-haif tables at Tuesday evening’s bridge party at the Southern Pines Country Club. TLe circles of the WomenTs Fellowship will meet on Thurs day, March 14, at 10 a.m., at the church for their monthly meeting. At 11 o’clock they will hear' a talk by Rev. Falstein Snyder, Superintendent of the Childrens’ Home at Elon College. All wo men of the church are urged to attend. Mr. and Mrs. Henry A. Borst of Vass planned to let their 50th wedding anniversary, February 27 th, pass quietly by, but friends and relatives had a different idea and the beloved couple found themselves in the middle of two delightful celebrations last week. Following the appearance of a brief item in the preceding Sunday’s Methodist Church bulletin, congratulating the Borsts on their approaching anniversary, friends who knew of their untiring service and loy alty to the church began saying the church should honor them in some way. A group attending a study class Monday night discus sed the matter after the study and came up with the plans for a re ception to follow a business meeting scheduled for Wednesday night—the 27th—a meeting which the congregation had been asked to attend. Around 50 people were present attended by 38. The table, arranged in U-shape, held arrangements of mixed flow ers in shades of yellow and gold and gold candles in crystal hold ers. Favors for the ladies were golden slippers of china caught with ribbon bows for corsages. Gold edged place cards marked the seating arrangement and nap kins had “Rena and Henry, 1913- 1963” in gold. The Rev. David Moe gave the invocation. A four- course turkey dinner was served, the dessert course being ice cream in the form of slippers and decor ated cake squares. After dinner the group assem bled in the private dining room, which was set up as a gift room, where the couple opened and dis played the many beautiful gifts, expressing their deep appreci ation. Guests were Mrs. W. Duncan Matthews of Southern Pines, who was wed in a double ceremony with her sister, Mrs. Borst; Mrs. Mr. and Mrs. Lamont Brown drove to Charlotte today, to meet their son, Ronnie, coming in by plane from Chattanooga, Tenn. where he is a student at McCallie Preparatory School. Ronnie will be here until the 18th for Spring vacation. Mr. and Mrs. Alwin L. Folley returned to their home on Kens ington Road Tuesday night from Washington, D. C. where they spent several days. Mr. Folley presided at a Howard-Johnson meeting in the city on Sunday and Monday. While they were away their son and daughter, Jock and Dana, were guests of their aunts, Mrs. Jere McKeithen and Mrs. Paul Butler. Former residents of this area, M/Sgt. and Mrs. W. M. Witty and daughter, Mercedese Irene, were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur D. Tener. Mr. Whitty, who has just retired from the United States Air Force, for the past two years has been stationed, with his family, at Goose Bay, Labrador. Leaving early Monday morning, the Witty family plan ned to visit in Nashville, Tenn. before returning to their home in Riverside, Calif. Also, spending Friday night with Mr. and Mrs. Tener were Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Tener of Washington, D. C., who were enroute to Miami, Fla., where they were to board a wind- breaker for a two week cruise in Wednesday night, and at the dose ; William G^ Parker and Miss Annie of the discussion, the pastor, the Bars! of Cameron, sisters of Mr. Rev. David Moe, called the Borsts forward. He congratulated them. and Mrs. Henry Klingenschmidt, president of the women’s organi zation, pinned a corsage on Mrs. Borst and Edwin Finch, chairman of the official board, a bouton niere on Mr. Borst. Everyone pre sent was then invited to the fel lowship hall, which was bright with flowers. The refreshment table, decor ated in the golden anniversciry motif, held a three-tiered wed ding cake topped with a golden arch from which were suspended wedding bells. Pictures were made as the couple cut the first slice. Orange punch and nuts were served with the cake. The Borsts were presented from the church a gold-decorated crystal tray and glasses. They expressed warm thanks for the evening’s honor. Those taking an active part in carrying out the reception plans included Mrs. Charles Gschwind, Mrs. Horace Mullinix, Mrs. Kling enschmidt, Mrs. Edward Griffin, Mrs. David Moe, Mrs. James Hud son, Bill Frye and others. She and Mr. Borst, a native of Cameron, have spent practically all of their mar ried life in Vass, where he served as mayor for 20 years. He retired nearly eight years ago after 48 years’ service as railroad agent and operator. He is a trustee of the Vass Methodist Church and a former president of the Metho dist Men’s Club. Mrs. Borst has been treasurer of the church for Mrs. Tripp Arrives For Spring Season At The Hollywood Mrs. Rosewell C. Tripp of Litch field, Conn, has arrived for the Spring season and is a guest at The Hollywood. She has as her guests, Mr. and Mrs. Osgood Perry of Washington, Conn. Judge and Mrs. William Hatch of Raleigh recently visited their aunt, Mrs. T. C. Ringgold, who is making her home here. Other arrivals this week in clude Mr. and Mrs. D. Robey Wood of Salem, Va. Winners at Tuesday’s bridge party at The Hollywood were Mrs. Carl Foss. Mrs. Sarah Perry and Miss Katherine Andrews. Benefit Bridge Party Scheduled March 15 The Sandhills Business & Pro fessional Women’s Club will hold a benefit bridge party Friday evening, March 15 at the Southern Pines Country Club at 8 o’clock. Chaney, who has been spending the past two weeks in Durham with Mrs. Wade Cof fey, is returning home Saturday. Her daughter, Mrs. W. T. Hunt- ley, Jr., is driving up for her. Mrs. Jack S. Younts returned home TTiursday from a 10-day trip with her husband to Florida. They visited the Keys and spent some time at Fort Pierce with Mr. and Mrs. James Howe and also with Mrs. Younts’s sister and brother-in-law. Dr. and Mrs. Har old Younts in Palm Beach. Mr. Younts, who is still with the lat ter couple, expects to Join his family here this weekend. Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Worth, Jr. last weekend attended the At lantic Conference basketball game in Raleigh where they visited her sister, Mrs. J. C. Webb and Mr. Webb. They also had a short visit with their daughter, Miss Peggy Worth, at Meredith Col lege. On Saturday, they were guests of Mr. Worth’s mother, Mrs. T.
