THURSDAY, JUNE 20, 1963 THE PILOT—Southern Pines, North Carolina Page NINE Coon Hound Water Race Slated For July 4 At Candor The fourth annual Coon Hound Water Race and dog show has been scheduled for Thursday, July 4, at Martine J. AUen’s lake, three miles north of Candor. Attracting dog owners and sportsmen from a wide area, the event opens at 10 a. m. and in cludes the Coon Hound Water Race, U. K. C. Bench Shows, Grade Hound Dog Bench Show and Ugly Hound Bench Show.' Awards will be made to the youngest and oldest person at tending and to the person travel ling the greatest distance to reach the event. Gate prizes, donated by Candor merchants, will be given. Refreshments will be sold by the Flint Hill Christian Church of Biscoe, RFD, to benefit the church building fund. Further information can be ob tained from Martine J. Mrs. Taylor To Appear Sunday At Aberdeen Church The trustees of Faith United Presbyterian Church of Aberdeen announce that Mrs. Edna Taylor of the Taylortown community near Pinehurst will present a program at the church Sunday, June 23, at 8 p. m., featuring col ored slides and pictures of scenes in Europe and the Holy Land. The pictures were made by Mrs. Taylor during a period of three years overseas, most of which was spent in Germany. Mrs. Taylor is a former school teacher who was active in that profession for many years. She has been active also in giving as sistance to the Welfare Depart ment and with the Red Cross and Moore County Tuberculosis As sociation. Theodore R. Holland is chair man of the Faith United Presby terian Church board of trustees. The public is invited. Home Demonstration Mt, HoUy Club The Mt. Holly Club women held their second workshop of the year in the White Hill Fel lowship Hall beginning at 10. Mrs. Owen Taylor of near Broadway demonstrated and taught a lesson on Crewel em broidery. Miss Flora McDonald, retiring extension agent of Moore County, gave a lesson and de monstration on “Trapunto” quilt ing and also repeated a demon stration on “How To Sew In A Zipper.” The picnic dinner was given in her honor and she was presented a gift in cut glass from the club in appreciation of her untiring s-ervice to homemakers Mrs. Taylor was presented a gift in cut glass for her demon stration.
