D. L. Currie of the Hallum store said Mitchell bought a tel evision set and antenna, also a . used washing machine, July 16, signing a conditional sales con tract. Deputy Sheriff R. A. Ed wards, serving a claim and deliv ery paper later on Mitchell, said he searched for the merchandise at Mitchell’s home and found none of it there. Mitchell drew a six months’ road sentence, which Judge J. Vance Rowe then suspended for two years on payment of $10 and costs and all the balance due on the merchandise, amounting to $157.45, which the judge said he could pay off at the rate of $10 per week. Other cases disposed of: Hazel Caviness Peitz, Eagle Springs, Rt. 1, driving without liability insurance, judgment continued on payment of costs. Davis, Ben- nettsville, and John Wesley Wil son, Bennettsville, Rt. 1, unlaw ful possession of illicit whiskey, 30 days each suspended on pay ment of costs; Walter Ellis Mc- pherson, Rockingham, Rt. 2, speeding 60 in 45-mile zone, $20 and costs; Charlie Chatt, Eagle Springs, violation of license lim itation, judgment continued on payment of costs, not to drive till he gets his glasses repaired. The case of a Southern Pines citizen arrested on a warrant tak en out by the town manager for violation of the town zoning or dinance is slated for presentation to the grand jury when a term of Moore County Superior Court for trial of criminal cases opens in Carthage Monday. Leland M. Daniels, Jr., who is in the construction business, was arrested June 11 on the indict ment of F. F. Rainey, town man ager. EHRMAN PICKLER Night Circle Meets Mrs. Ralph Foushee was host- -ss to the Night Circle of the Methodist Church when they met at her home Monday evening. Mrs. Joseph W. Adams gave an interesting program on “Around The Rim of Asia.” Mrs. Adams also presided and heard reports. A food sale was enjoyed among the members. Gustafson have returned home after a sev en-weeks’ trip north as far as Brainerd, Minn., where they vis ited their son and family, Maj. and Mrs. W. H. Rice and sons at their summer home on Gull Lake. From there, they visited relatives of Mr. Gustafson i round Dan ville, Ill., and then on to Desh- ler, Norwalk, and Cleveland, Ohio. Back in southern Ohio, they visited Mr. and Mrs. Donald Gus- Itafson, then went on to Chilli- cothe, Ohio, to visit another son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Gustafson, and to see their new grandson, Tim Doug las, who was born .July 14.
