The entire school district‘Will participate, including thel%5agie Springs and Vineland Schools and the Jackson Springs comipunity. The school cafeteria will bc set up to give the lumps of sugar which will have two drops of the vaccine on each and it will be tasteless. There will be ajcontri-. bution of 25c but this is' not compulsory. ' Attends Meeting Mr. and Mrs. Bill Poley were in Winston - Salem Sati^jday; where Mrs. Poley attendedf;the, Alumnae Meeting at the Cfty Memorial Hospital. Honoring the alumnae was a coffee hour, a tour of the old building, luncheon, an afternoon tea and a tour of the new 16 million dollar hospital which has just been completed: Mrs. Poley marveled at all the new devices now being used'^^Sttd. she commented on the use of television. Should a family, be cause of age, not be able to visit with a sick parent, thev could use a room, so provided, ana visit by TV. Girl Scout Obser\ance , The Girl Scouts are observing the birthday of the national organization this week. They' will terminate their activities on Sun day by attending the 11 o’clock worship service at the Presbyter ian Church . PTA Meeting The PTA will meet Monday at 7:30 in the school auditorium. Miss Comer’s FHA girls will hold a nursery for the small children whose parents attend the meet ing. All members are urged to attend. Sandspur Club Hostess Mrs. James Rector will be hostess to the Sandspur Club Thursday evening at 8 o’clock at her home. Woman's Club The Woman’s Club will meet Thursday evening at 8 o’clock in the Recreation Hall of the Pres byterian Church. Methodist Youth The Methodist Youth were hosts to the Interdenominational Fellowship on Sunday evening, beginning with supper and re creation. Holly Grove Club Mrs. Virginia Thomas was hostess to the Holly Grove Home Demonstration Club Friday eve ning. Mrs. L. M. Currie, presi dent, presided at the meeting welcomed Mrs. Neil Mcl®s|^e into the club. Reports wfere given of the books read by the members and they were discuss ed. Mrs. Currie presented the program “Wall Samples and Wall Finishes.’’ She pointed out that walls give protection, privacy, govern the room size and shape. Thompson and her English HI classes will attend a program, “The World of Carl Sandburg,” at the Pinehurst High ^pljool next Tuesday. The Moore County Club will be represented and the' students from West End attending will be Daniel Boone and fWalter Sitaley. Daniel will serve as one of the three voting aelfegates and Walter will serve a.s color bearer for the local club in a colorful parade of represen- tative.s from all the schools which have D. E. Programs, throughout the staff. Issues to be voted upon will include elections of officers and revisions to the state consti tution. Contests in job interview, pub lic “pe iking, ad-layout and sales demonstration will be conducted and winners of the district con tests will be the contestants. A banquet and dance will be held Friday evening at the Memorial Auditorium in connection with the convention. Seven students in all will at tend from Moore County. Adults accompanying the students in clude Mrs. Eva Merrill of the Sandhill Citizen; William Gentry, Barnuhi Realty and member of the D; E. Advisory Committee; and Mrs. Mary Ellen Booker, co ordinator of the D. E. Programs of Moore County. Methodist Circise Mrs. Ben Brewer and Mrs. John Branson were hostesses to the Minnie Morris Circle of the Methodist Women on Monday evening at the Youth Building. A program “What the Christian Wdman Reads” was presented by Mrs. Daniel Boone, Mrs. Ernest Tart and Mrs. Reid Furr. Mrs: Ethel Davis was hostess to the Margaret Brown Circle. A program in the form of a play “Problems of Our Later Years” was presented by Mrs. Vivian Tucker, Mrs. A. J. Hanner and Mrs. Davis. Mrs. R. B. Lewis was hostess to the Tuesday Morning Circle. Miss Nellia McCrummen presented the Bible study and' Miss Vista Mark ham, the program. Speaks To Seniors A representative from the Lee Industrial School in Sanford spoke to the seniors this week. He told them of the courses the school has to offer - practical nursing, drafting, auto machanics, air - conditioning, welding, elec tronics and designing. A Trade Course runs for one year and the Technical Course for two years. Marriage Announced Mrs. Frances McNeil announces the marriage of her daughter, Shirley Ann, to Michael Sammy Puckett on Friday evening at Bennettsville, South Carolina. The bride is a senior at West End High School. She is also the daughter of Earl McNeil of West End. The bridegroom, son of Mrs. E. G. Puckett and the late Mr. Puckett, attended West End High School and is employed with the Proctor-Silex Company in South ern Pines. The couple will be at home with his mother.
