State Active In Beef Promotion Plentiful supplies of high-qual ity wholesale beef are now on the market, and consumer attention to the tasty farm product is be ing drawn by active participation of the N. C. Department of Agri culture in a nationwide beef pro motion program. Agriculture Commissioner L. Y. Ballentine said that displays pointing up the fine qualities of beef are going up in restaurants and grocery stores across the state as reminders to patrons. “It is particularly significant that this program underscoring beef wiU really get under way during ‘Made in North Carolina Week’, April 27-May 2, which has been designated by Governor Terry Sanford to promote Tar Heel products. Beef production is close to a $40 million farm indus try in this state and growing,” he said. Regional library Budget Approved When the Sandhill Regional Li- bidry Board members met for their quarterly meeting Wednes day in Rockingham, D. W. Hurley ot Biscoe vice chairman, presided. The main purpose of the meet ing was discussing of the 1964-65 budget for the Sandhill Regional Library. The budget was adopted as presented. Mrs. Pete Phillips of Cameron, secretary, read the minutes of the last meeting and W. Stuart Evans of Robbins, presented the Treas urer’s report. Miss Hollis C. Haney of South ern Pines, director of the Sand hill Regional Library, which in cludes Moore, Montgomery and Rockingham - Richmond County Libraries, made her report. These present were: Mr. Evans, Mrs. John M. Currie of Carthage and Mrs. Phillips, representing Moore County; Mrs. C. V. Rich ardson of Star, Mrs. J. S. Smith- erman of Troy and D. W. Hurley of Biscoe, representing Montgom ery County; and representing the Library, Mrs. Henry C. Wall.
