By SALLY AUMAN Bloodmobile Visit The Bloodmobile will be at the School Cafeteria Friday after noon, June 19, from 12:30-5:30. This is an opportunity to donate blood if donors are between the ages of 21-60. Anyone who is married may donate if under 18 years of age and if unmarried, with parents’ permission. Mrs. E. R. Outland will be in charge of registration and canteen, and everything will be done to make this a most satisfying project. Doctors and nurses will be pres ent at all times to insure the best medical attention. Steak Dinner The Legionnaires, wives and guests, totaling 90, enjoyed a steak dinner Saturday night at the Legion Hut. Marvin Black is the newly- elected Post Commander and to serve with him are Sam Richard son, vice commander; Francis Currie, Jr., chaplain; Reece Gra ham, finance officer; Wade Fipps, sgt. of arms; and Charles Hinson, adjutant commander. The newly-elected auxiliary officers are Mrs. Marvin Black, president; Mrs. Sam Richardson, vice-president; Miss Lucile Eifort, secretary; Mrs. J. F. Sinclair, treasurer and Miss Grace Donald son, chaplain. Attends OES Meet Miss Blanche Monroe, Worthy Matron of the Magnolia Chapter 2, Order of the Eastern Star, at tended the meeting of the Grand Chapter of North Carolina last week in Asheville. On Saturday afternoon, she attended a Consti tution meeting in Troy followed by dinner and the installation of the newly chartered chapter. At tending this meeting were the Grand Officers of the Grand Chapter. Miss Monroe, past presi dent of District 9 of the Federated Woman’s Clubs, gave a Memorial Service at the State Meeting of Woman’s Clubs recently in Greensboro. She was a delegate from the West End Woman’s Club. Woman's Club Dinner A buffet dinner was the feature of the Woman’s Club meeting Thursday evening with Mrs. John Branson, Mrs. J. F. Sinclair and Miss Lucile Eifort as hostesses at the Methodist Youth Building. Miss Treva Auman installed the following officers for the coming year: Mrs. E. R. Outland, presi dent; Miss Lucile Eifort, vice- president; Miss Grace Donaldson, recording secretary; Mrs. Archie Farmer, corresponding secretary; Mrs. Dwight Richardson, treasur er; and Mrs. D. A. Patterson, parliamentarian. Special guests at the meeting were Miss Valeria McCrummen and Mrs. Earl Bru ton. Y Bible School Mrs. John Branson was chair man of the Daily Vacation Bible School last week at the Methodist Church. Assisting her with the Kindergarten were Mrs. Reece Graham and Mrs. Bobby VonCan- on; with the Primary were Mrs. Lynn Mclnnis and Mrs. W. M. Chriscoe and with the juniors were Mrs. V. L. Sutphin and Mrs. Harold Wood. The Rev. Daniel Boone conducted the opening ex ercises each morning and Linda [Williams and Joanne Sutphin were in charge of the music. Scouts to Fair The Senior Girl Scouts left Sunday morning with their lead er, Mrs. Harold Markham, by chartered bus for the World’s Fair and other points of interest in New York. They will return on Friday. On the trip are Scouts Sharorp Richardson, Jane Jack- son, Libba Johnson, Janice Gor don, Delores Conrad, Joanne Sut phin, Helen Hanner and Becky and Janet Markham. Presbyterian Circles The Circles of the Presbyterian Women met this week with each having a program on the General Fund Agencies and a Bible study from the Book of Psalms. Mrs. David Wilson was hostess to the Sunday Night Circle. Mrs. Fred Frye gave the Bible study and Mrs. John McCaskill had the program. Mrs. Jennie Teeter and Mrs. J. B. Barnette were hostess es to the Monday Night Circle. Mrs. E. R. Outland had the Bible study and Miss Grace Donaldson gave the program. The Tuesday Morning Circle met with Mrs. R. B. Donaldson. Miss Neolia McCrummen had the Bible study and Mrs. North Lewis gave the program. Attend Synod Meet The Rev. George Cheney and Elder Hobson Tucker attended the meeting of Synod last week at Montreat. Mrs. Cheney accom panied her husband. Personals Mrs. Jerry Troutman of Laur- inburg was organist for the Sun day morning worship service at the Presbyterian Church. The Troutmans were weekend guests of her parents, the Archie Farm ers. Mrs. Bob Vickery of Seneca, S. C., with Julie Sarah and Emily, visited Mr. and Mrs. Mar vin Poole last week while the Rev. Mr. Vickery attended the Methodist Conference at Lake Junaluska. While at conference, he came in full connection with the Elders’ orders under the rule of seminary. He was graduated in August from Emory University in Atlanta with a B.D. degree from the School of Theology. This week, the Vickerys are moving to a new assignment at Simpkins- ville, near Greenville, S. C. Also moving are the Rev. and Mrs. Bud Ellington from Candler to near Hendersonville, where he will serve the Balfour and Moore’s Chapel Churches in the Western Conference. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Poole called on Mr. and Mrs. Howard Poole Sunday in Cheraw, S. C. ’Turner Poole is a patient at Moore Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Donald Eifort left Char lotte by plane Monday for a visit with her son, Joe, who is studying in Germany. Calling on Mrs. E. R. Outland and Mrs. Claude Auman Sunday afternoon were Mrs. Edgar Man- ess of Biscoe and Mrs. Rosella McDonald of Star. W. E. Jackson and T. J. Fletch er spent the weekend at Shal- lotte.
