CHARLES CAMERON Perfect Attendance Herbert Caddell, superintend ent of the Vass Presbyterian Church Sunday School, presented perfect attendance pins and awards at the conclusion of the Sunday School hour Sunday to the following: David McLean, 3 months; Lewin Mack Blue, 9 months; Timothy Gschwind, 4 years; Gail McLean, 5 years; Wil liam C. Mashbum, John Arch Keith, 6 yesirs; Wayne Caddtell, Winkie Laubscher, 15 years. G A Party The Girls’ Auxiliary of the Vass Baptist Church enjoyed a swim party and weiner roast July 4, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roland Ferguson. Present in addition to the five members, were Rev. and Mrs. J. D. Hales, Jr. and Miss Sylvia Callahan. Ladies' Night The Moore County Fox Hunters Club entertained at ladies’ night with a steak supper at the com munity house last Thursday eve ning. Most of the members and their wives nad guests were pres ent. Bible Mission Camp Leaving Sunday for a week at Bible Mission Camo were: Donald Key, Howard Cummings, Nancy Coffey, Joanne Frye and Sut Bui lock. Circle 2 Meets Vass Methodist Circle 2 met last Thursday evening at the church fellowship hall. Mrs. Char les Cameron, chairman, presided and conducted a routine busines.s session. Mrs. Lewis .Frye led the devotional and program, “Re cruitment — A Concern of the Whole Church.” Members assist ed with related topics. Mrs. H. M. Klingenschmidt was hostess of the month and served refresh ments during the social hour. Covered Dish Supper A covered d’ish supper at the Vass Baptist Church last Monday evening was a farewell of mem bers and guests for Lt. and Mrs. Ralph Anderson and children, Andy and Hope, prior to their de parture Tuesday for New York to leave by plane for Paris, France. The couple were active church workers during their residence here while Lt. Anderson was sta tioned at Fort Bragg. In addition to teaching the Intermediate Sun day School Class, he was the RA boys’ leader. Mrs. Anderson taught the Primary Class. In appreciation for their work, Mike Griffin, a RA member, pre sented the couple with a silver tray on behalf of the church membership. Mrs. Anderson and the children accompanied her husband to Paris for a three year tour-of- duty. Personals Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ramey and daughter Sandra, and his sister. Miss Gayle Ramey of Lafayette, Ga. returned to their home Sun day after a week’s visit here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clar ence Womble and family and other relatives. Mrs. H. C. Callahan accompani ed Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Idol of High Point to Arlington, Va., for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. George Hargrove and family over the holiday wreekend. Home for the weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Roland Ferguson and daughter Carol. Mrs. Fergu son is attending summer school at Chapel Hill; Carol is a student at Governor’s School at Winston- Salem, and Mr. Ferguson is work ing at Spring City^ Tenn. Over the weekend visitors with Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Autrey Sr. and attending Homecoming at the Union Presbyterian Church Sun day were Mrs. J. W. Williams of Cornelius, a sister of Mrs. Autrey, and Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Alexander and sons. Tommy and Phillip, of Fayetteville. Mrs. Lula H. Hennings accom panied friends to White Lake for the day last Wednesday. Mrs. O. M. Bullock of Lilling- ton, who has been visiting in the community with relatives and a granddaughter. Miss Marjorie L. Bullock accompanied Mrs. Archie McNair and children, Gwen, Don nie and Joanthan. to their home in Forsyth, Ga., Thursday of last week for a week’s visit, Mrs. Mc Nair and children came last Mon day and visited with relatives here and in Lakeview. Tim and Mac McNair remained with their grandfather, Landis McNair of Broadway for a month’s visit. Calling on Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Frye, and on other friends in the community Sunday afternoon, were Mr. and Mrs. Atlas Hilliard of Asheboro. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Davis and family received word Friday of the death of an only sister of Mr. Davis’s who resided in Pitts burgh, Pa. The family left during the day to attend the services Mr. and Mrs. Edd Boggs joined their daughter-in-law and son, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Boggs and childiren, Ann, Stevie and Ronnie, at their home in Sanford Satur day. The families then left for a vacation camping trip in the mountains of Virginia and points of interest in Washington, D. C. Calling on Mr. and Mrs. Lane Bullock and family Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Tony Currin and daughter Tonya Jo, Mrs. C. D. Painter all of Fuquay, and Mrs. Lula Hennings of Carthage. Mr. and Mrs. Mack Callahan and daughter. Miss Amy Jo Cal lahan left Monday for a visit with their son and daugjhter-in-law, Henry M. and Mrs. Callahan of Norfolk, Va. Mr. and Mrs. James Key and daughter. Miss Betty Ann Key, are vacationing this week at Rock City and other places. Here for the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Grif fin and family, were Mr. and Mrs. “Butch” Griffin of Cullow- hee and her brother, David Win frey, of Clyde, N. C. Our community welcomes the new Methodist family, the Rev. and Mrs. Charles W. Wooten and daughters, Susan, Christy and Charlean. The family moved Thursday and were welcomed' at a supper, served by members of Circle 1 of the WSCS of the Church. Here for the night Saturday, with Mr. and Mrs. D. H. McGill, returning from a week’s stay at Myrtle Beach, S. C., were Mr. and Mrs, Allen Thompson and chil dren, Dennis, Dena and Debbie. On Sunday, they visited her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Baker of Sanford. Debbie remained for a visit with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. McGill. Mrs. Lane Bullock, who under went surgery recently at Moore Memorial hospit.^, returned home last Wedlnesday<‘ Mrs. Mary Howell who has been hospitalized for a number of weeks at St. .Joseph’s Hospital, returned last Friday to the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs.’ Charles Foster.
