Seawell-Buxton Nuptials Held Piano Playing Auditions Begin Here On April 27 .Ian lx)uise Buxton of Siler City, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. .lames E. Buxton of 301 Fort Bragg Road, Southern Pines, bec ame the bride of John Bilmer Seawell of Carthage, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman 0. Seawell of Carthage, Rt. 1 April 18 at 1 p.m. in the Carthage First Presbyterian Church. The vows were taken before the Rev. Lester L. Dattler and musicians were organist Mrs. Elizabeth Kayton and soloists Miss Sarah Seawell, sister of the bridegroom and James McMillan Jr., who accompanied himself on the guitar. The bride’s father, James E. Buxton, gave her in marriage. The bride wore a gown of white Alencon lace with pearl-trimmed fitted bodice. The empire waist had a portrait neckline and the cathedral-length train was of chiffon. The long chiffon sleeves were gathered at the wrist. Alencon lace and pearls trinuned the chapel-length mantilla veil. She carried a bouquet of white spider mums, stephanotis, babies’ breath, gypsophelia and coral azaleas, all silk. Matron of honor was Kathleen 0. Palmer of Cary, who wore a sleeveless dress of green Qiana with scooped front and back neckline. Her silk flowers were coral azaleas, tiger lilies, daisies, gypsophelia, cymbidium and babies’ breath. Bridesmaids were Robin Kimsey of Pinehurst, Kimi Lacock of Greenville, Jan Nelson of Todd, Pamela Sawyer of Alexis, Linda Chavis of Chapel Hill and Robin Eller Frye of Rockingham. They were dressed the same as the honor matron. Honorary bridesmaids were Reba Allred of Beaufort, Wanda Cameron of Aberdeen, Cindi DiMaggio of Wintergreen, Va., Karen Seawell of Carthage, sister of the bridegroom, Laura McLaurin Smith of Rockingham and Mary Seawell Morris, sister of the bridegroom. Archie Kelly, of Carthage, Joe McLeod of Carthage and Tom Dowd of Southern Pines. The wedding reception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Joe Morris in Carthage and the couple left for a honeymoon to Fdlly Beach, S.C. and Charleston, S.C. They will be at home on their return at 713 W. Third St., Apt. B, Siler City. The rehearsal dinner was hosted by the parents of the groom at the home of Karen The National Piano Playing Auditions, sponsored by the National Guild of Piano Teachers, will be held at the First Baptist Church of Southern Pines April 27 through May 2. Judge will be Roselyn S. Ed wards of Goldsboro, a graduate of Greensboro College’s School of Music in Greensboro, who did graduate work in California and Illinois. She has taught music education in Goldsboro, Los Angeles, Cal., and Wheaton, Ill. She has directed church choirs, youth choirs and civic groups. She is a member of local, state and National Music Teacher Associations and is listed in the Piano Guild’s Hall of Fame. About 135 area students will participate from the studios of Rose Moz, Dot McDonald, Helena Neill, Margaret Kitto, Mrs. John Gilmer Seawell Seawell in Carthage. Turkey and ham and garnishes were served buffet style. Grandmothers present at the wedding were Mrs. Ursula Frost of Elmira, N.Y. and Mrs. Kate Kelly of Carthage. Acolytes for the ceremony were Andy Kelly, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. Archie Kelly and Brad Kelly, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rives Kelly of Carthage, both cousins of the groom. The bride is an honor graduate of Sandhills Community College. She was graduated from Appalachian State University magna cum laude and has been employed as a speech, language and hearing therapist by the Chatham County Schools. The bridegroom is a senior in the Mechanical Engineering program at N.C. State University in Raleigh, where he is a Dean’s List student. He is employed by GKN Automotove Industries in Sanford as a co-op student. Pre-Nuptial Parties A miscellaneous shower-lun cheon was given by Mrs. Joseph Yardis and Mrs. Martin Foster at the Yardis home in Southern Pines March 21. A miscellaneous shower was given March 27 by Mrs. D. Archie Kelly and Mrs. Joseph Bennett at Mrs. Kelly’s home in Carthage. Refreshments were served. A bridemaids’ luncheon was given by Mrs. Olene Kimsey and Robin Kimsey at their home in Whispering Pines April 4. The bride received a gift of stoneware. A lingerie shower was given by Sarah Ivill, Glenda Beasley, Sharon Johrison and Debbie Waddell at the Ivill apartment in Siler City April 5. On April 10, a miscellaneous shower was given by Mrs. Earl Moore at her home in Carthage. The faculty, aides and staff at Siler City Elementary, Henry Siler and Silk Hope Schools presented the bride with a gift. MARSHAL — Sandra Wayne Rrendell of West End has been selected a marshal, at Peace Col lege. Selected on the basis of academic achievement, marshals rank at the top of the freshman class for first semester work. Broad St. The Moore County Recreation Department has planned several trips for the Spring months. Tryon Palace will be the highlight of the New Bern trip on May 20. The trip will include transportation, a tour of the Governor’s Palace, a general tour of historic New Bern, and lunch at the famous Henderson House Restaurant. The cost for this trip is also based on par ticipation and could range from $28 to $23. The cost is slightly less for senior citizens. It is important to note that the more participation there is on these trips, the less it will cost. With 35 to 40 people on each trip, the cost will be on the lower range of the scale. Charleston, S.C. will be beautiful on June 5-7. The cost of this trip is as follows: single- $105; double-$85each; triide-$80 each; and quadruple-$75 each.
