Burke, president, and Raymond S. Burke, retiring vice president. Facility Grand Opening Held On April 15, Harris Wholesale, Inc., wholesale distributors of Anheuser Busch products, held the official grand opening of their new environmentally controlled warehouse and office facility located in the Sandhills In dustrial Park on N.C. 5 between Aberdeen and Pinehurst. Larry R. Burke, president, welcomed guests and customers. Ed Lancaster, vice president- general manager, introduced the special guests in attendance. Burke began the dedication ceremonies by giving a brief history of the company and its growth. He also related how Raymond S. Burke had played a major role in that growth. He introduced Larry W. Harris, chairman of the board and owner, for the presentation ceremony and comments. Harris presented mementos to Mr. and Mrs. Burke and unveiled a portrait of Burke that will be placed in the office area. The Pinehurst facUity is dedicated to Raymond S. Burke, vice UNDERWATER PARKS The idea of mini underwater state parks in North Carolina never did catch fire when first introduced in 1974. Four unique Underwater a'reas, however, finally received official recognition April 29 when a certificate recognizing the inclusion of the four sites on the N.C. Registry of Natural Heritage Areas was presented to the N.C. Marine Fisheries Commission and Division of Marine Fisheries. After looking at North Carolina’s close-to-shore bottoms (mostly flat, monotonous, barren stretches of sand and silt), a diver can come upon select areas along our coast and think he has found a piece of the tropics. Contrast of drab to exotic is great. People once believed that if their palms itched they would receive money. CONGRATULATIONS — Ed Lancaster, vice president and general manager of Harris Wholesale, Inc. congratulates Raymond S. Burke, retiring vice president and general manager. {x-esident, retired, for 31 years of service and leadership. The total includes over 1,350 undergraduates and between 550 and 600 others who will receive graduate degrees. The latter figure includes 52 doctoral degree candidates. In addition, UNC-G will confer two honorary doctoral degrees.
