May 6, 1981 THE PILOT—Southern Pines, North Carolina Page 15-B Pair Will Face Charges Of First Degree Burglary Preliminary hearings on first degree burglary charges were conducted for Prentice Thomas and William Junior McAllister last week in Moore County District Court. Judge Walter Lampley found probable cause to hold both men for grand jury action on the felony charge. They were bound over for the next criminal term of superior court. Cathy Yvonne Allen waived her right to a hearing on a felony charge of possession of mari juana, and she too was bound over for grand jury action. She also gave notice of appeal to superior court after she receiv ed a suspended sentence for two misdemeanors, carrying a con cealed weapon and driving under the influence of drugs. She had pleaded guilty to both charges. The six-month sentence was suspended 12 months on payment of $150 fine and costs and the con ditions that she surrender her driver’s license and attend classes at Sandhills Mental Health Center. Wesley Homer gave notice of appeal when he was found in violation of the terms of proba tion and was ordered to serve the prison sentence, which had previously been suspended, for misdemeanor charges of assault and battery and breaking and entering. Probation was revoked, and Judge Lampley ordered that The Garden Shop he be permitted to serve the sentence under work release con ditions. Notice of appeal was given by these persons: Larry Donnel Bostick, who pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol and received a 90-day sentence, suspended 12 months on payment of $100 fine and costs of court and the conditions that he surrender his driver’s license and attend alcohol education classes (a companion charge of transpor ting non-tax paid liquor was voluntarily dismissed); Jonathan Bonner Sparrow, who pleaded not guilty to DUI but was convicted and sentenced to 90 days, suspended 12 months on payment of $100 and costs and the condi tions that he surrender his license and attend alcohol education classes; Marvin Louis Dowdy, who pleaded not guilty to failure to stop for a red light, was con victed and taxed with costs. Others who gave notice of ap peal were: Jerry Harold Deaton, who pleaded not guilty to DUI, was convicted and sentenced to 90 days, suspended 12 months oh payinent of $100 and costs and the conditions that he surrender his license and attend alcohol educa tion classes; Sammy Ray Reagan, who pleaded not guilty to non-support, was convicted and sentenced to six months, suspended three years on pay ment of costs and $50 a week to support his family; Bronzie Harold Lawson IH, who pleaded not guilty to careless and reckless driving, was convicted and taxed with a $10 fine and costs. Charges of misdemeanor breaking, entering and larceny were consolidated for judgment against Terry Michael Ashbum and William Thomas Beard, who pleaded guilty. Each was sentenced eight to 12 months, suspended 12 months on payment of $250 fine and costs. They were placed on probation for 18 mon ths. Pleading guilty to larceny were Doris Harris, Mattie McDonald, and Bertie Phillips, each of whom was sentenced to six months, suspended 12 months on-payment of $100 and costs. They were plac ed on probation for 12 months and ordered not to go on the premises of Rolane Factory Outlet. These persons also pleaded guilty: Ben Bostic, first offense DUI (originally charged with se cond offense DUI), 90 days, suspended 12 months, $100, costs, surrender license; Jack Andrew Ledbetter, two counts of no operator’s license, 60 days, to be served concurrently with any other sentences he is now serv ing; Linda Key Patterson, DUI, 60 days, suspended 12 months, $100, costs, surrender license, at tend alcoM education classes (voluntary dismissal taken on companion charge of speeding). Guilty pleas were entered as follows: Herbert Lee Williams II, DUI, 90 days, suspended 12 mon ths, $100, costs; David Jackson, DUI, 90 days, suspended 12 mon ths, $100, costs, surrender license, attend alcohol education classes; Patricia Williams Smith, passing stopped school bus, costs; Parker Graham Wallman, improper equipment and failure to drive on the right half of the highway, $15, costs; Frank Baldwin, drdnk and disruptive, 30 days in jail, with credit for time already spent in jail; Chucky Dean Duncan, no operator’s license, $25, costs. Brenton Clay Anderson plead ed guilty to two counts of speeding, one 82 miles an hour in a 55-mile zone, the other 55 miles .an hour in a 35-mile zone. He was sentenced to 30 days, suspended 12 months on payment of $50 and costs and the condition that he surrender his license.
