Participants other than O’Neal were Gaston Day School who the Falcons had earlier beaten by 6 strokes, Mt. Airy Senior High School who fell to O’Neal by 15 strokes, and Ravenscroft, whose team has tremendous depth. With the greens in excellent condition, the scores were close at the turn. O’Neal was out front with a 148, followed by Ravenscroft at 150, Gaston at 157, and Mt. Airy at 174. The tight course and endless out-of-bounds markers took their toll and the Falcon’s number three man was in trouble. It would take four low scores to win this event and O’Neal was looking at three. The totals could not be added until the sixth man was in. Grant Duffield of O’Neal took par on the 18th to post his season low score of 82 and give the Falcons a 4 stroke victory. Medalist for the event was Kurt Stengel of Ravenscroft with an exceptional 34-35, 69 total.
