presented a charter of the Cum
Laude Society to the Wallace
O’Neal Day School on May 18.
Upon accepting the Chapter for
the Day School, Robert Haarlow,
Headmaster, noted that he was
gratified that 14 out of the 18
O’Neal students who had been
named to the society and
representing all four of the
school’s graduating classes were
on hand for their initiation into
the society.
Guest speaker for the occasion
was Ms. Alice Litwinchuk,
Middle School Director from
Charlotte Country Day School.
Preceding the installation
ceremony, the initiates and their
parents were honored by a buffet
luncheon sponsored by the
Mothers’ Association of the
school. Hostesses were Mrs. Dale
Hamlin, Mrs. Clay Daughtridge,
Mrs. Jack Renner and Mrs. Ed
Brown.
Student members named to the
society are: Bucky Adams,
Robert Becker, Steve Dummit,
Mary Sue Faulkner, Ron Glover,
Lynne Joyner, Dickie Joyner,
Nancy lillard, Eddie Millington,
Joan Phillips, Jamey Staub,

JAPANESE DELEGATION — Top ranking educators and
representatives of Japan toured Moore County last Wednesday,
including a stop at the Weymouth Center in Southern Pines. Shown also

The bride wore a gown of
Qiana with a sweetheart neckline
and empire waistline, with small
cap sleeves. Lace applique ex
tended from the yoke to a chapel-
length train edged in lace. Her
veil was edged in lace and ac
cented with lace applique and
seed pearl trim. She carried a
bouquet of daisies, yellow roses
and baby’s breath.
Maid of honor was Marcia
Thomas of Pittsboro, Rt. 2. She
wore a mint green gown with
sheer lace front and back yokes
and an empire waistline,
gathered at the center of the
bodice. She carried a bouquet of
daisies.

wedding trip to Hilton Head
Island, S.C. On their return they
will be at home at 814 High
Street, Aberdeen.
The bride is a graduate of
Jordan-Matthews Hi^ School,
Siler City and the University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill
with a degree in business ad
ministration.
The bridegroom is also a
graduate of the Jordan-
Matthews High School and UNC-
