It will begin at 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Baptist Activities Cameron Baptist Church will have Vacation Bible School on June 22 through the 26th from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Bibles were presented to the following graduates during the worship service at Cameron Baptist Church on Sundav. June 7: Kathy Kelly, Jinuny Vann Comer and Lisa Hendrick. Tim Nickens and Terry Butner were not present‘but they will also receive a Bible. The RA’s of Cameron Baptist Church met jn the home of Tony and Kevin West on Monday, June 1 at 7 p.m. The Rev. Presbyterian Activities Mrs. Isabel Thomas, Clerk of Session, represented Cameron Presbyterian Church at the Synod of North Carolina meeting at Montreat on Tuesday and Wednesday of last week. Women of the Church Council meeting was held at Cameron Presbyterian Church on Sunday, June 7 at 7 p.m. The Rev. Franklin Toole, Registrar of Sandhills Community College and former pastor of Oie Troy Presbyterian Church will be the guest preacher at the 10 a.m. worship service on Sunday, June 14 at Cameron Presbyterian Church. Circle No. 1 of Cameron Presbyterian Church met Wednesday, June 3 at 2 p.m. in the home of Mrs. Flossie McKinney. Mrs. Jewel Measamer, Mrs. Ellen Gilchrist, Mrs. Leta Edmonds and Miss Virginia Graham were present. Mrs. McKinney, chairman, called the meeting to order and had prayer. After a business session was held. Miss Graham was moderator of the Bible Study “Behold My Servant-To the End of the Earth.” The hostess served cantaloupe halves filled with ice cream and potato chips with coffee. Circle No. 2 of Cameron Presbyterian Church met Monday, June 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the home of Mrs. Helen Hinson. Mrs. Alethea Phillips, Mrs. Mallie Coe, Mrs. Beaulah McPherson, Mrs. Sue Phillips, Mrs. Blannie Keith, Miss Virginia Graham and Miss Ada Gilchrist were present. Mrs. Alethea Phillips, chairman, called the meeting to order and had a short devotion. After a business session. Miss Graham presented the Bible Study “Behold My Servant-To the End of the Earth.” The hostess served strawberry shortcake. Commissioners Meet The Cameron Board of Town Commissioners had their regular monthly meeting Tuesday, June 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Hall. Mayor Carl Longest, Miss Mary McDonald, Clerk, James E. Phillips, James F. Roberts, Miss Jean Kelly and Albert Cole were Cameron Board members to attend. They took care of some necessary business. Sprin^ield Club The Springfield Home Extension Club met Thursday, May 21 at 10 a.m. in the home of Mrs. Marjorie Thomas with Mrs. Annie Mae Caddell as co-hostess. The meeting was called to order by Mrs. Dorothy Thomas, president. For devotions Mrs. Marjorie Thomas read a devotion from the Upper Room and had a prayer. The group then sang “Jeanie With The Light Brown Hair.” Mrs. Ha Caddell, Mrs. Annie Mae Caddell, Mrs. Florence Comer, Mrs. Nell Flinchum, Mrs. Brenda Frye and son, Daniel, Mrs. Alline Lynch, -Bfrs. Maxine Patterson, Mrs. Lila Kay Roberts, Mrs. Dorothy Thomas and Mrs. Emma Jean Wilson answered the roll call by what kind of tree, shrub or plant they had planted on May 6 for this year’s State Environmental Project. Mrs. Jane Trampus from Lake Surf gave an informative program about custom drapes, basic window types, enemies of drapes, cleaning and taking care of drapes. Mrs. Roberts, secretary, read the minutes of the last meeting. Mrs. Marjorie Thomas, treasurer, gave the treasurer’s report. Mrs. Da Caddell reported that she attended the April area meeting and had a fire extinguister checked and refilled. Mrs. Wilson reported that she was the leader of a candle wick workshop in April. The International Tasting Party on September 20 was discussed. It was announced that the Holiday House will be on December 18 and that Extension Homemakers Achievement Night Program, which will fea ture a Fashion Show as the main • event, will be on January 18, 1982. There were several that read their report of the day activities for the Creative May Contest. The meeting was closed with the group repeating the Club Collect. The hostess served chicken salad on lettuce, crackers, nuts, mints, strawberry shortcake, tea and coffee. Members stayed after the meeting for a workshop on pineapple Trapunion pillows. Hospitalized Mrs. Mildred Shaw was glad to get home last Tuesday after being a patient at Moore Memorial Hospital for some time. Mrs. Mary Womble entered Moore Memorial Hospital on Friday for treatment. Mrs. Mary Smith Bobbitt of Winston-Salem is in Forsyth County Hospital in Winston- Salem. Mrs. Bobbitt is formerly from the Cameron community. Ricky Denny entered Moore Memorial Hospital Monday afternoon and was scheduled for surgery on his ankle on Tuesday. Mrs. Vicki Comer spent several days in Chatham Hospital in SUer City following an auto accident on Friday, May 29. Paschal Teague was a patient at Chatham Hospital in Siler City for a week for observation. Mrs. Clarence Denny of Danville, Virginia, formerly Joyce Isgett of Cameron had surgery last week at Duke Hospital in Durham and will be confined there for several days. Personals Miss Paula Yow played “Prelude in D Major” by Bach, “Aragonaise” by Massenet; her duet was “Narcissus” by Nevin at Mrs. Nancy Eaton’s piano recital at the First Baptist Church in Carthage on Friday, May 22 at 8 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. William West of Spring Lake visited Mr. and Mrs. Gerald West and children, Tony, Kevin, Gerald Lee and Nicole last weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Randal Hamilton of Lenor visited Mr. and Mrs. Gerald West and children recently. The McDonald Family Reunion was held at Cameron Presbyterian on Sunday, June 7. After a picnic lunch everyone enjoyed the family gathering. Other students that will graduate from high school from the Cameron connmunity are Anita Gail Oakley, Amanda Butner, Ned Kelly and Rennee Nelson. Miss Patty Thomas returned home from Upper Volta, Africa on Saturday. She brought home arts and crafts that she will be selling. Miss Lula Rogers is still quite ill at home. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wishart of Wilmington visited Miss Lula Rogers and sisters last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Suggs and son, Jeremy of Dunn and Bill West of Mooresville spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Thomas and children, Lori and Scott. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Thomasson of Morrisville had lunch Tuesday with Mrs. Flossie McKinney. Brent Gastor of Jacksonville, Florida has been visiting Mack McKinney, Mrs. Flossie McKinney and Mr. and Mrs. Nick Gastor. Mack McKinney has left to take his grandson, Brent, home. Mr. and Mrs. Danny Caryle have returned home from a honeymoon at Myrtle Beach, S.C. Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Kelly and son, Danny of Raleigh had supper Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Hilton Kelly. Mrs. Sadie Ledwell of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Dr. and Mrs. Paul McCollum and children, Sean, Ryan and Heather of Dallas, Texas are visiting Mrs. Loy Routh this week. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Foushee and children, Brent and Cindy of Pinebluff and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hardy and children, Todd and Brian of Raleigh spent Sunday in the home of Mrs. Loy Routh. Ms. Jewel Thomas of Whiteville spent last weekend visiting Mrs. A.A. Graham, Sr. Mr. and Mrs. A.A. Graham, Jr. and children, Elizabeth, Catherine, Jennifer, Amy and Marshall of Southern Pines had lunch Sunday with Mrs. A.A. Graham, Sr. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Phillips and children, Cheryl, Dean and Lee attended the graduation of Mrs. Phillips’ sister, Lynn Whitaker from high school at Pilot Mountain on Friday. Work has begun on the new addition to the Cameron post office. There will be new lock boxes and more room for maU carriers and employes to work. There will be more parking space out front, which is needed. Henry DeCourt of Bethesda, Maryland was buried last ’Thursday at Arlington, Virginia. He is the son-in-law of Mrs. Charlie Loving of Lillington. Mr. DeCourt was an employe of the government. He died suddenly. Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Hendrick, Mrs. Loretta Nickens, Bill Rogers and the Rev. Eugene Payne attended the funeral of Mrs. Maude Denny Snyder on Tuesday, June 2 at Hayworth Miller Funeral Home in Winston- Salem. Mrs. Sylvia Payne and daughter, Kelly have been visiting Mrs. Payne’s mother, Mrs. Maggie Allred, in Greensboro. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Callahan of Whiteville visited Mr. and Mrs. James Pilson and children, Greg, Randall and Eric over the weekend. Dabney Birth Mr. and Mrs. Victor Dabney are the parents of a new baby girl, Cynthia Karen who arrived on Monday, June 1. The baby weighed 10 pounds and 11 ounces. SPRAYING?
