This view of the western-most side of the structure shows off Civil War cannon and the monument erected to honor World War I Aviator James McConnell who was killed in action over France. The courthouse was opened in 1924. Several other Moore County courthouses preceded it. We Welcome Visitors And Those Who Wish To Join Us In Building A Good Life And A Better Tomorrow. EDUCATION CENTER — Sandhills Community College, located near Southern Pines and Pinehurst, has been an educational center for more than 20 years in Moore County.
