Ojt the heels of the one through^fthis section from the western/ part of the state comes the announcement that Eastern Carolina is t6 do a like stunt. A striking ^tiling about this tour is not only that it is the first In dustriaF"fe#ir to be put on, but it id staged in the heart of winter. Is is no longer necessary to se S laet a time for such a trip when tie roads are good. Paved high ways mean good roads the year round, in sunshine or in rain. {According to the statistics of tlje Rational Bureau for the Ad vancement of Music, approximately 'TOO towns and cities in the Unit *ates this year <<wi|l obporve i World custom of Christ ..vc^earoling The revival of . old time custom is appealing n it only to the big cities like Phil St elphia and Chicago where bands o carolers Of 150 or more will re h torse the Christmas songs, but it iai spreading into rural coinmnni S. ^ose who organize the groups most) frequently Sunday school ehers, music teachers, Sunday «ool superintendents, club lead ers' and others interested helping yOung people serve their eommun itfr. OOD PARTY ’ Rev. 1 f R CrocFrald: on a hv''ed away with our Mj the first peep at the stately palms in Jack hti the grand ocean’s edge 'wood, we have lived in a tf.',reamland. From the pain I Thud^e glided on to the - which followed us foi • visited ftfie trip, on one side Mr. All‘ver> on the otl'el Warf % taresting on unl,rok Mi£S Le not tkes€ homes of gold-studded >r tropical jungle Wild with delight we shopped and gathered armfuls of the luscious fruit. Our hotel at Cocoa, situated di rectly on Indian River, was lovely Our rooms, cretonne draped and furnished in gray, opened on the water. Beauty increased with each mile toward Hollywood. We hope yet bo gather some of these great clus ters of ripe bananas we saw on otir way down. At last our mecca—Hollywood. Friends, it is a miracle. That this city of miles of pavement, of bril liantly lighted boulevards, of ele gant hotels, of banks, of a hos pital, of store's«. of varied indus tries of a fifteen million dollar harbor and of 10,000 inhabitants could have been created in three years is incredible. Nevertheless, it is true! It is Hollywood, the beautiful. We are as happy as children Come, cast care aside and take this trip of delight. Hollywood not only takes good care of you but | tries to gratify every individual need or whim. And when you come, don’t forget to bring your j bath suit, for the grand old ocean j beckons you. We wish to say in conclusion that we feel fortunate in having Mrs. Wadden as our conductress. She is untiring in her efforts to make every one with her happy and we shall always feel grateful to her for her thoughtfulness. MRS. CHAS. B. REGISTER, JOE & CHAS. REGISTER, MRS. E. J. V. Peedin also of near town. Only the parents of either party knew of the marriage, not; even the sister of the groom, until the hour had almost arrived. Miss Irene Parker and Mr. Waverly V. Jones being special friends, were invited over to the home only a few moments before to what they supposed a birthday supper until they arrived and found Rev. Jas. Rose on the scene, which revealed the secret. The spacious parlor was beauti fully decorated for the occasion nnd just as the sacred hour ar rived, softest strains from Men delssohn’s Wedding March pealed forth, Miss Lillie Crocker, sister of the bride presiding at the pia no, and there in the presence of only a very few close friends Rev. Jas. Rose, pastor of the bride in a simple, but most impressive way, spoke the sacred vows. The bride never looked more beautiful in a pretty pink crepe with hat, veil ;ijnd accessories to match. After the marriage the happy ylolmg couple, accompanied by Mr. ,Jones and Miss Parker, departed for Raleigh to attend the mar riage of one of Mr. Jones’ friends. The bride is the accomplished daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Will Crocker, a young lady of great am bition and a great Christian work er, a girl loved by all who knew her. The groom is the oldest son of Mrs. E. V. Parker, a man of sterling qualities who also has many friends. We all wish for them much happiness and suc cess as time unfolds it hidden ro mance. One Day Conference at Stale A one-day conference on fertil izers will be held at State College, December 9. A program giving facts found about fertilizers in North Carolina has been arranged. Investigations show that by im proper ginning from $5 to $10 per bale is lost on some grades of cot ton. Tarheel growers should de mand betteffthndling of their cot ton at the gins. Sale of J. H. B.
