Barber, who is now in the hos pital at Smithfield on account of a heavy flower box falling on h;m frem the porch at his heme last Thu-isday afternoon and badly crushing; his body is improving, al though it is very slowly. The Oakland Christian Endeavor gave a social at the home of Mrs. J. E. Yelvington last Thursday night. Everybody reported a good time. Miss Mary Booker left last Sun day for Statesville where she is teaching this year. She spent the holidays here with her mother, M*s. E. N. Booker. Samuel Booker left last Wed nesday to take up his studies at Davidson College after spending' the holidays with his mother, Mrs. E. N. Bocker. Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Boney spent Christmas with Mr. Boney’s par ents at Wallace. Cleveland school opened last Monday after a week’s vacation for Christmas. All the teachers are back except Miss Parrish from Franklinton. Mrs. H. L. Boney will take her place. Miss Alma Barber has gone to Wilson after spending some* time with her sister, Mrs. J. H. Yei vington.
